I see. I've never let it go to the little yellow gas pump thing, which idk if that doesn't help my poor mpg situation.

This part does not make any sense.

Anyways when the yellow light come on that mean you have about 4gallons left in the 20gallons tank. Get it?

Go and fill your tank again to check how many gallon when in this time. If your gas gauge is saying half full, you should fill about 7 to 8 gallons, if you fill less than 7gallons that mean there is something wrong with your gauge.

But I am not about to drop 300 a month on gas for a car that although a sport coupe, does not get 11 mpg. That's insane.
I would think if your car was burning that much fuel...you'd smell it.

The problem is definetly something else....first guess being the gauge itself. Second guess being a ecu problem where you're running super rich. Third guess being a leak in your gas tank. Does your car smell wierd?
Don't forget about a bad Oxygen Sensor. If one or both of his O2 sensors is dead, he could easily get fuel economy as bad as 10 MPG or worse. If one of these was dead, he should see a Check Engine light though. Believe it or not, I've actually seen situations where shady car dealers have sold cars with a Check Engine light on due to a dead O2 sensor, and the seller just intentionally smashed the bulb for the Check Engine light so that the guy buying the car would have no idea it had a problem..... pretty ridiculous, but it actually happened to my dad when he bought his Sonoma.

Well thankfully I don't think they did this with mine, as when I put the car on ON, I see all the lights that I should see

G35 Coupe 6MT
I'm currently doing 10mpg in the city in my 05 6mt 19"rays.. LOTS of traffic jam and barely ever reach 3rd gear.. However, as soon as i get on the highway and reach the 6th gear, my mileage goes up to 20/24mpg.

I will admit that most of my driving is in city, 11 mg still feels REALLY bad.

And where specifically would I look for leaks? Just under the car?

If ifs at all cold where you are (less than 40ish degrees) and you do a lot of city driving that doesn't seem out of the ordinary to me. I have an 04 and in the winter here I get about 12-13 MPG and there is almost never traffic here. much less a traffic jam. short trips rob you A LOT in the winter.

Yea check for leaks. Starting from a full tank, you should get at least 250 miles before empty, assuming you don't drive like a maniac every time you sit in your car. So if there's nothing obviously wrong, I think most likely it's your fuel gauge. Try filling up the tank and then when it goes to half, fill up again and see if the numbers add up. If not, check the forum for a fuel sensor fix, those things get old or dirty, from what I've heard it's an easy DIY and will save you at least $400.

Check your alignment and tire pressure. That have a huge impact if they're not set properly.

here is my 2 cent.. If i fill my car up.. 17 gallons and i set the trip meter back to 0 (zero) and drive until it's almost of E (empty). I can get 290 or close to 300 mpg (that's if I drive with sense). If I think I'm a race car driver I get about 265 to 280 mpg. I also know since I have put on 5/16 MD spacer and R2C intake it seems to burn more gas. Like I said.. mods decease your gas mileage (well in my car it has). I know I need to change my plugs cuz I have about 66K miles on my car. Like others have said.. U need to check tires, spark plugs and list any mods u have on your car. Side note.. the intake gave me a better air ratio which resulted in my car running a little higher on idle (about 1krpm) when the car starts from a cold start.. Then it does back down to 900Krpm

As they already said, you need to do all these things to rule out any problems. You very well could have a bum gas gauge. You would need to pull the sender out of the tank to clean it correctly. Doesn't sound like that will get done in your case as you stated you don't have the time to do a tune-up. One other remote possibility is if you don't have a locking gas cap and you park outside of a locked garage, someone could be siphoning your tank. I do a lot of town driving and spirited driving as well. I get between 15 and 17 mpg.
