My first car was a '86 z31 as well. '04 coupe 6mt loaded, just hit 78k. That stupid 5 speed z31 started this life long loyalty to Nissan

My first Nissan was also an 86 z31. While its 80s nostalgic, that car was slow and prone to repairs.
40k? Holy crap that is low miles!
I have 182k on mine lol.

Virtually trouble-free ownership for the past 13+ years...and managing with the slow oil leaks. Today, I passed 200k.

Trying to manage the oil leaks now on mine lol...
Rear main seal finally gave out so that is leaking a good bit now.

Yeah, I feel ya. I started to notice this a while ago (~ 3 years?) and have monitored it closely. I took it to the dealership initially and they looked into the oil pan gasket, but no dice. So, I always have a bottle of oil in the trunk...just in case. ;-)

Same here, my oil pan gasket and the rear main seal went this time.
Already changed the oil cooler gasket, oil filter gasket, valve covers + gaskets.
Drain plug and o-ring.

Everything original (motor, timing chain, transmission)

It's finally starting to leak oil from around the oil cooler on top of consuming oil, but I got something cool planned for it.

91,000 on 07 (not 1st owner). I only drive around 5-6k/year on it so it's not going up fast. Time to change the tires and replace tire pressure sensor looks like, only issue.

This car so far has been easily the best car purchase I've made (history of about 8 used cars total). It looks and drives great, and got a really good deal on it. I had a guy do a full inspection on it before buying and it passed with high grading so bought with confidence. I wouldn't buy a used car any other way again. (Can't really trust myself). Only other cars I would have in mind on my "wish" list maybe a Maserati or Tesla, but for the money this car has far exceeded expectations.
