Question tire life expectancy

Anyone out there have any idea or experience yet with the average tread life on the 18" OEM Michelin pilot sports on the M6 Coupe? I've only got about 4k on mine now and she's stored for the winter.

Average life on that tire is 15-20K miles. Being a max performance tire and lack or rotation possibilities will decrease its life. I have 22K on mine and have 3/32" tread depth left. Legal limit is 2/32".

are the 18" tire/wheels on the '04 coupe 6mt the same on all 4 tires or are they staggered like the '05 6mt?

They are staggered....the rims are slightly different so you can not put the rears on the front.....(of course it is possible, just remove the 12mm bolt and spacer on the front hub)
Sizes 225/45/18 front
245/45/18 rear

NP The front and rear wheels are the same width (18x8) but the fronts do have the hole for that stupid pin unlike the rears.

My Michelins are wearing very well. With about 15K kilometers on them, they still have 7/32" front, and 8/32" rear tread left.
They should last 35-40k kilometers.
Mine is automatic tho if that has any effect.

thanks guys. so the tire width is the same '04 and '05, just 18" vs. 19". i was thinking about 18" with the same tire all around to save on cost to replace the tires. do you think that would look bad? i've been toying with the idea to buy an '05 6mt.

on the 2005's in 19"

225/40-19 Frt 245/40-19 Rr with a 19x8.0 front and 19x8.5 rear wheel. No Brembos either which should free up more wheel options this year.

I'm gonna hit 20k pretty soon and my pilot sports have decent tread life remaining so far...

I got about 18k miles on the rear and am just replacing the fronts at 22k the first week in January '05 (next week). Michelin is doing no one any good by NOT making the R/S tread in 18 inch sizes. Until this, I used to like Michelin.
