So I have two 06 coupes w/ nav. On one of them I can change the zoom up to 400mi down to 1/32mi. The other only goes from 160mi to 1/6mi. Both have 10 levels of zoom. I've looked through all of the settings but can't find if the scale can be set at different levels or not. Or maybe the nav system was modified during the model year. Does anyone know why it's like that?

 

Do you have the same firmware installed on both cars with the same version map DVD? I think there is a factory reset option in the Nav... you might be able to do that on the one that doesn't zoom to the level you want, and see if it restores it.

 

I don't know about firmware...that could be a possibility, but I thought all you had to do was change out the dvd's to update. Anyway, I've switched the dvd's b/w the two cars and nothing changes. If it is a firmware issue, how do I know which car is the most up to date?

 

The DVD in your nav is just the map data. You don't actually need the DVD in the player to use some of the other features of the system.... you just wouldn't be able to use the navigational features. The firmware is separate from the map DVD and it gets installed on the unit itself as the operating system. I forget how to check the version of the firmware. My car is an '04 and I've done it before, but mine is different from yours. I think they changed them in the '05+ cars from the prior gens.
