I think you can get all of those mentioned but I think it's a fairly retarded law. I accidently raced a cop to 40 once I didn't really notice he was there and then all of a sudden I stomp on it But the cop didn't do anything though gladly.

Thanks for the heads up G's. The reason I ask is because I was stopped at a red light, and I look over to my left and there's this guy in a Celica checking out my rims. I thought nothing of it, so when the light turned green I was feeling frisky. Dropped the hammer and I was gone 0 to 50 mph. The speed limit is 50 mph down this stretch of road, so I made sure my speedometer didn't go past that, but this Celica finally catches up to me. The driver is waving a police badge at the same time shaking his head "no". I thought, well I never passed the speed limit or squealed the tires so why is this guy shaking his head. Anyways, he turned at the next light and that was that.

So now I know, and knowing is....

as a matter of fact about a year ago i was getting on the highway with a cop next to me, he accelerated pretty fast so i followed, we were both gunning it until we hit 70mph, then he pulls me over, he pulls up next to me, rolls down his window and guess what he says...
i won, he says, then he gives me the finger and takes off.
good times

I would absolutley drive 0-to the speed limit, and not give a dickens who was next to me including a police officer. If he/she stopped me I'd simply say that I was following the speed limit and the sign says "40" it doesn't say "40, but you must reach 40 at safe speeds"...

I agree lol... I always wondered this, and everyone said you will get a ticket, but i dunno I mean he's right, it doesnt say how fast or slow you have to go to get to 55....

I think it's pretty sad that "exhibition of speed" is seen as a bad thing by our government.

Exaclty, so its more of a saftey issue. You have more time to react to a kid chasing a ball in the street if you accelrate slower than if you gunned it. Hmm sometimes the law does make sense....keyword "sometimes".

0-60 for a G35 is around 6 secs so... if u went from 0-60 in 6 secs on a road with other cards and peds.. how safe is that... now in my accord... it might take like 10 secs which is a little safer but cops dont care lolz...

most times cops are just gonna look for a reason to give you a ticket, they do have to meet their quotas
