Snowboarders....

Hey all you snowboarders, have you guys ever taken your G to the snow? I'm just wondering first of all, if my snowboard will even fit in my car. I have a 156, what size board do you use and does it fit in your car? If so, how did you arrange it?

Also would taking the G up to the snow be a good idea? Any input would be appreciated, thanks!

The board will definitely fit. Just put down your backseat. Running it over snow though, I haven't tried yet. Remember, its got a big ***.

Exactly. I have a 156 too....but since down here in SoCal its "holiday period" at the local slopes (bigbear) the whole month of january, I can't afford to pay $56-$60 for a full day lift. So I am on strike from big bear...those bastards raise it every year...forcing you to buy the season pass.

but you are on the g35 website. he's asking about the g35's abilities to handle cargo like a snowboard.

I think it should be fine with teh seat down, of course that means a max of 2 people in the car total... and even with snow tires, the G in the snowy mountains, personally I'd NEVER do it.

Ive got a black G and i live in MA on cape cod. I have a 164 and i havnt managed to fit it in my car because i have 2 12" alpines that take up the trunk, so thats out of the question. We got a bunch of snow here recently, about 15 inches or so and the town WAS NOT prepared for it. They had sent most of their workers on vacation and they just got rid of the powedered snow, leaving all the compacted snow on the roads. I still have the stock Eagle RS-A tires on my car and the performance wasnt very impressive. I drove about 2 miles and the car was fishtailing EVERYWHERE. I turned around and put the G back in the garage and took my moms BMW 330xi which is all wheel drive. That car did a lot better than the G did in the snow, but i have to say the god damn thing is so fu**ing uncomfortable. Since then the roads have improved and have been fully plowed and sanded. The G drives alright now, but i havnt taken it above 50 on these roads incase of ice (excluding highway). All in all, i would strongly recomend you DONT take your G up to the mountains, i think you would only run into trouble, unless ofcourse you are way more patient than me and are willing to drive at 10 mph.

Good Luck!

My friends are a lot more experienced than me, so they make me go fast as hell on the blue square. They keep complaining when they have to wait for me to finish the trail. I've busted my **** so many times I literally couldn't sit for a day. Nothing but ice on the north east slopes. So I got myself a nice tail bone protector. It's very discrete. Can't notice it under the snow pants.

I ride a 152. It can fit if you fold the rear seats down. You can probably fit three boards if you carefully fit the bindings underneath the rear strut bar. That only leaves two people to ride in the car. Another thing you can do, is fit the snowboards on the front passenger seat, sticking out of the sunroof. Just blast the heat and keep the sunroof open only enough for the boards. Then you can take three people up in the coupe.

I've taken my coupe to the mountains twice. NOT A GOOD IDEA!! Even with snow tires, I almost wiped out on the windy roads. There was no ice/snow on the ground. It was around 30 degrees and I was traveling the speed limit. The coupe is just too damn heavy. Major understeer on the twisties up there. And that temp is way too cold for the stock pilot sports to offer much grip, but god forbid you get caught in anything worse than a drizzle.

Also, it's just not a comfortable drive. All your friends are bundled up in their snowboarding gear. Tight quarters in the rear. Then the drive home when everyone is dead tired and stinking of wet clothes. It's a chore to get grown men into and out of the backseat after 9 hours of boarding.

LOL, sorry that's kinda funny, but on a serious note hope you get better. I have taken countless jumps...in the beggining I looked like a chicken flapping its useless wings in the air after being thrown from a two story building...but with every crash comes a new skill on the slopes. So get better and hit bigger and better jumps/ramps.

OK cool, I can fit the board. But what about the snow. I wanna go really, really bad, I don't even care if I can go with my friends or not, I'll just go myself, which is why I'm asking. My MR2 definately won't make it, but the G I think would be more suited. If its snowing, I'll use chains, but if not, the roads should be clear. Anyone taking their G to the snow before?

I've taken the car to Bear a couple of times already when she was still on stock rollers and springs during winter time and she did fine. No snow on the ground meant that I could take the turns nicely.

Me and a buddy have put our boards in her...pause for laugh...with no problem.

Now that I have her on Volks and she's a little lower, I am more hesitant to take her to the white stuff.

Do not put chains on the car...please...

Driving up there in my Tacoma is the way to do it these days. Looked at an Evo MR for sh**s and giggles today as a second car and to assist in snow duties hopefully by next season!!!

Good luck with the drive...Bear is gonna be dumped on again on Sunday and Monday.
