De-badging question

I see a lot of people debadge their cars on here and I'd like to do it too and saw some videos on how its done but nobody explains it in detail. I was wondering if anyone has done this and scratched the paint at all and whats the actual process of doing it?

thanks for any help

A little heat, some high strength fishing line, and body shop grade plastic spatulas... And a whole lot of patients, it's easy, just time consuming,

my mechanic/auto body friend did mine on my sedan recently he used a flathead screwdriver to take off the lettering then he used a round rubber thing on a grinder to take off the glue. after that he used 1500 grit paper, then some compound, buffed and that was it. you cannot tell if the letters were there.
btw it took him 10 minutes

Had you tried doing a SEARCH you would have found more than you need to know. lmao Here's the deal all you need is fishing line, Googone and ScratchX to remove any shadows left. It's important to take your time removing the adhesive buy soaking it several times with Googone so you don't scratch the painted surface. After you finish adding several coats of quality wax will only make your trunk lid look better....enjoy!

+1 what everyone else said.

I used a blow dryer to heat it up first, then some fishing line or floss to get the emblems off. Finish up with some goo gone then wax.

I used a heatgun, dental floss (lots of it, because it will break on you), googone, M205 polish and tons of patience. Shouldn't take more than 30 mins.

All it is holding the emblem is a double sided tape type of adhesive. Heat makes it easier to remove the emblem and goo gone to get rise of the extra reside.

Taking the emblem off was the easy part with a blow dryer and floss. Its just the residue of the glue that took awhile. I used a brand new microfiber towel and goo gone and kept scrubbing. Make sure you wash/clean the trunk or the area your going to work on. You might need to polish/buffer the area after too.

Nope, it's not illegal at all. Cops would be able to ID your car regardless, since it's linked to your registration/license plate number. And by the way, you don't have to get a heat gun. A simple hair dryer will do! Just turn it on hot and put it over the badges until you can wiggle them a little bit with your hands
