They just look better and will never crack like the OEM plastic.
Here is a set of my new custom tanks:

Stuff like that is just mostly for engine bay cosmetics. It won't make any functional difference on your car in terms of performance and I've never heard of the OEM ones failing unless the car is in an accident in which case the coolant overflow reservoir can and usually does crack if it's a front end impact.

When I first started modding my engine all we had available were aluminum caps then we graduated to ARC tanks like Marcus has. Sean made available the ones he posted which work just a well for a lot less $$ so it's all about what you like and can afford or I have my aluminum caps laying around if you wanta buy them for the cost of an In N Out burger....Gary

Just to clarify, there are only 2 people with an ARC coolant tank (modified overflow/catch can combo for the VQ35HR) on a VQ35DE; mine was originally sourced and modified by Marty_G. I'm rocking that one and Sean's PS tank.

iIhad my coolant and power steering tanks red anodized as I don't like to polish stuff. Will the new round designs work/fit on a 350Z?
