No it did not start once i boosted it. I took it to autozone and told them about what was going on. They tested the battery and told me that once the cranking amps get so low the battery wont recharge enough even when boosted to allow the car to crank.

I have a ton of vehicle battery experience, and just had to replace a voltage regulator on my motorcycle. Anyways, I bet you your battery lost a cell. Runs fine off jump, and alternator, but won't start on its own...definitely battery. Grab a volt meter and test the battery when dead. I bet it will be under 11 volts, which mean you lost 1 cell (each cell is 1.5V), 8 cells in the battery. Cold weather could have done it, or a pot-hole or hard shake could have also lost your cell...either way, easy fix.

That I understand. But now it's not starting even with a boost
Any idea why?

Go get a new battery and stop beating yourself up about what it might be. My money's on a bad battery, especially with the low CCA and sub zero temps. Our cars can have all kinds of things go wrong when the batteries start failing.

If the battery is toast, it may not start right away with a jump (boost). The low cold cranking amps (CCA) indicate the battery is simply worn out.

what does a decent battery cost and im assuming i can get one just about anywhere?

As noted above, my factory battery is still in and starting the car but in a very inconvicing manner. Cold weather doesnt seem to be helping either.

Also when i have to change this, im assuming there will be some sort of code i have to re enter to get the radio to work again? the bimmer had to have this done

No radio code to enter, but you will lose preset favorites. Battery from autoparts store runs about $100. I think I paid $150 at a nissan dealership once.

thanks again driver, lets hope this fixes the problem

i installed the new battery which was about 160 bucks, the car wont start same issue just ticks. however i kept on trying like 30 times and finally it cranked. so far shes been good. lets see if this also solves the VDC/SLIP issue

this is the weirdest car ive ever owned. I still dont understand how a battery pack or a boost from an SUV cant start it even if the battery is shot. thanks again!

thought i had this issue solved, apparently not.
I had problems starting my car last few days, same problem all i hear is ticking. however if i keep on trying it'll start eventually, sometimes second or third try and sometimes takes a good thirty tries.

I though the new battery might be shot. So i went to Napa and had it tested.

any idea what else it might be?

Did you pull any codes? You might need to replace the camshaft sensors.

I dont have a SES so no codes no nothing.
Just randomly happening, maybe starter is going bad?

I had a problem with my battery with cranking amps, replace the battery and it still would have trouble starting. i cleaned the air filter and throttle body and it didnt have an issue on starting but then I had the an issue last yr with a bunch of dashboard lights come on, car would die on me in the middle of traffic, got it diagnosed and the codes pulled were for camshaft sensors.
Even if you don't have a SES, get a code scanner. It will give you a better understanding of what might be happening since you already rulled out the battery and starter by getting them checked at napa. The ticking noise, takes a while to start, rough start to me sounds like replace the camshaft sensors.

I might install the plenum spacer soon, so i'll get the sensors replaces too.

Any idea which one it is and where to buy it from?
I heard there are two sensors, cam and crank? not sure

Left my car at work, tried starting it over & over and nothing would happen.

Few mentioned that it might be the cam position sensors or knock sensor. But looking online on videos they all crank but fail to start
when trying to start mine starter will engage but it wont crank

I took a quick video, no idea why it turned out sideways
