OEM Pads or Hawk HPS?

I need to change my pads soon. I believe I have OEM pads on right now since I got my G. On a cold start my brakes squeak like crazy until warmed up and I'm fine on the stopping power. I want to keep good stopping power but want to reduce the squeaking as much as possible. My choices are OEM or Hawk HPS pads. Which should I go with? I've read mixed reviews on the Hawks.

Why are you limiting yourself to just those 2 options?

I can't see any real reason to use OEM pads, but there are a ton of other options aside from just Hawks and OEM.

Personally, I like Project Mu pads.

I've ran hawk hps for a while and always had good longevity, minimal dust and no noise. Check market place on here venders got pretty good prices. Just upgraded all four corners with hawk hps drilled and slotted rotors on my 05.

Project Mu ftw! Oem have a nice cold bite but fade when pushed when hot. Hawk hps have a GREAT hot bite and can hold up pretty well even after autocross but have super sketchy cold bite so just make sure you warm them up before expexting them to help you stop at all lol

06' OEM sport brakes are an upgrade from the old Brembo's. Unless you're driving hard every single day and burning tires all of the time, they're more than good enough. I've read on here waaaayyy too many complaints about the other brands. Look it up on here. Good luck with your choice.

Project Mu B-Force all the way. Brakes and tires are two things you should never skimp on. Project Mu pads may cost $100+ for a pair but they're well worth it IMO. Reasonable dusting, no squeals, and great stopping power hot and cold.

You shouldn't have any issues with Hawk HP pads, they'll double the life compared to OE pads along with having 90% less dust which we all enjoy. Installing Hawk pads you'll need to do the bed in process which is why the work so good without making noise....Search or PM me about the process. I'm on my second set of Hawks....love em!

I'm pretty happy with the bite on my Hawk PC pads, no dust at all really - decent bite and make cleaning the wheels really easy.

+1 on the Hawks. Very little dust, great hot stopping power, if you bed them in correctly.

Just make sure in the mornings to warm em up in your neighborhood.

Are you looking for just front brake pads, or both fronts and rears?

good choice. you'll like the hps pads.

I'm running on DBA 4000 slotted with HPS pads. They are a wonderful pair. Minimal noise minimal dust.

Good luck!

That's two reasons to go OEM.

OEM has fantastic braking for every day driving, no noise (even without a bed-in process), no issues in cold, and a few threads where people comment on the noise of HPS

Great pads, but the OP needs to be aware of the parameters of them.
