Hey everyone, I am fairly new to the forum and to owning a G. I have a 2004 coupe. I am looking to mod my car so I am able to run canyons. I am open to any and all advice. I am not on a budget so I have nearly unlimited resources. If you guys could give me brands and what things do to assist the ride i would really appreciate it.

 

Coil-overs and sway bars!

Brands- It's up to you, do some research and figure out what you like in spring rates and ride height etc...

so for the sways how stiff should i run them? ive done some reseach and i find contradictions everywhere. Some say to get sways really stiff and others say get them just bigger than stock....

and for coils are there brands that just stiffen the suspension or do they all lower the car?

 

Its just cuz im getting a new job man. an engineering degree will pay off....... hopefully

 

I'm pretty sure all coilovers will be stiffer then stock and sit lower. Good info here:

A good set of tires will make a tremendous difference as well: RE-11, RS3, AD-08, KDW........etc

 

Thanks for the help. i saw a kit that strengthens and braces the frame and subframe would this be worth picking up? or is it overkill? I dont plan on tracking my car

 

^Anything that reinforces the unibody would be good. Decide on how low you want to go before getting the underbody brace since it takes away ground clearance.

 

Canyon runs are so fun, by installing coilovers and sways with adjustable endlinks it only gets better. Along with that you'll need SPL camber kit front and rear to bring your alignment back to OE specs. Don't forget quality tires like Michelin PS2s, all the mods in the world won't help if you're running poor quality rubber!

I dont really want to lower my car. I just want to tighten everything up. Slamming my car isnt the goal.

 

Sway bars and adjustable endlinks along with an upper strut bar will help but you'll still need quality rubber. At stock height you'll still experience some body roll but considerably less than when she rolled off the boat from Japan. Swaybars should be installed using urethane greaseable bushings, OE rubber bushings flex too much....Gary

Ok. So from what ive heard and what ive researched Coils, sways and a nice set of tires. From my research people have turned me toward strut bars as well. Are strut bars worth getting or will sways do the job.

 

Strut bars only REALLY help when paired with sways. They may remove a few squeaks in your dash alone but when paired they a nice little addition in tightening everything up.

 

Strut bars certainly won't hurt performance, but I think you'll notice bigger gains from the three mentioned above.
