Extremely easy to replace the mirror. 2 or 3 screws and 1 connector. I remember taking my door panel off

You have to buy the whole mirror. You can get it online for $150 or so. If the only part that is broken from your original mirror is the black plastic base(not the painted shell of the mirror or the actual mirror glass itself), you can remove the plastic base off of the new mirror you buy(held on by 3 screws to the base), pull the pins out of the wiring harness and feed the wires back out through the new plastic shell, and then mount your old mirror onto the new plastic mounting piece and reinstall. I had to do that about 5 years ago when some ***** broke my sideview off in a parking lot at Fenway Park here in Boston. If you don't reuse your old painted shell, it will end up costing you a sh%tload more money because you'll have to get the new one painted, since they come unpainted.

The install is actually pretty easy, but you'll have to remove the inside door cover as well in the process.

Your local dealer won't have the best prices. I bought mine from an online OEM Infiniti parts reseller for like 30% or more off list price. I'm sure the prices on the part have gone up by now, since I bought mine like over 5 years ago.

You have to buy the entire mirror. I've bought them on ebay....it's not authentic OEM, but you honestly cannot tell the difference whatsover. It was about $70/shipped per mirror. Unless you have some sort of hard-on for OEM equipment, no need to spend the 2-3x as much for something like a mirror IMO. The mirror will have to be painted, which if you can't do yourself will probably run another $100 or so. Installation is easy, you do have to remove the inner door panel though.

He won't have to paint the mirror as long as his old shell isn't damaged and the replacement that he buys is close enough to his original one that the shells of his new and original one are interchangeable. You just buy a new mirror (OEM or ripoff brand), and remove the wires from the wiring harness plug, so you can back them out through the remnants of the damaged black plastic housing and completely remove the housing from the new mirror. Then attach the new housing to the painted shell of the old mirror, thread the wires back in through the opening and put them back into the plastic harness plug, put in the 3 securing bolts that affix the mirror shell to the plastic base, and reinstall onto the vehicle.

LKQ is a very reputable parts dealer. This oem mirror should work out perfectly for you http://www.ebay.com/itm/03-07-Infini...ht_2960wt_1139

don't mean to hijack this thread but your pic reminded me of something.
That black piece of plastic on the top of the black plastic housing. It is gone on my driver side, I have removed my door panel and the speaker on that side. Looks to be a weather strip of some kind. Anyone know a part number #? I have looked at pics online of the diagrams but it is hard to tell what is attached to what.

Thanks

It's a rubber gasket that slips onto the top corner of the black mirror base. Probably just re-installed it wrong. The first time I had my mirror off, when I re-installed it I didn't realize that piece was there and mounted my mirrror over it. Might want to pull your mirror off and see if it's under there before you try to order the piece. I have a feeling that would be a very hard piece to order anyways....probably would have to pull it from a salvage yard or something like that.

Take this chance to paint your mirror bases gloss black.
