Temp fix for rust/ cracked paint..

Walking past the car yesterday noticed this on the front passenger fender...
Not looking to repaint the whole fender right now because I am looking at a full respray in about 6-8 months. But I dont want this to get any worse in the meantime..

My back fenders were rolled and no cracks there, but the front, that has never been touched, cracks..

Whats the best temp fix? Its only about 2in long.

Im thinking tape off the area, knock off the loose paint and sand a little. Then prime and hit with touch up spray..? I dont know. What do you think.. ?

Definitely would have to be sanded down, then primer, paint, and clear. If the area is not too big then it might not be too noticeable when painted. You will still be able to tell the difference though, spray paint is not as shiny as factory paint.
