The last week or so I've been getting a sore right shoulder.
Today on the way to work I flipped up the center arm rest so I wouldn't lean on it.
WOW....
It was amazing how much more comfortable my driving position was.
Much more space & the shifter felt way more comforable as well. I don't know why I didn't try this B4.
I'm really thinking seriously about moding the arm rest now, to lower the height.
I think this situation is related to how low the seat is set.
I'm 6' & need the seat pretty low, so may not be a problem for others.
Out of interest you should give it a try.
Flip up the arm rest on the way home & see how much more space you have.

Now that you mention it...
I notice the armrest gets in the way of my right arm during extereme steering. My elbow hits it as I turn right. I am also >6' tall. never thought to raise the armrest, I usually just steer with one hand (left) instead.

I know a custom interior shop just down the street that did some great work for me
before to repair a torn seat (not the G).
I'll see what they think about making a thiner arm rest.
It gets somewhat complicated by the rear seat air duct, but I was thinking about getting an arm rest (from wreckers maybe) & cutting it down then get it reapolstered.
I'm not sure yet, though.
