P0340 Cam position sensor plug

Hi,

I got code P0340 which with searching here I found to be a cam position sensor. I went to nissan and purchased the sensor and after putting it in the car would not rev past 2000-3000 and sometimes die and still throw the code.

Before I took my old sensor out the car would run with reduced power and code, but would rev all the way to redline which led me to believe the connector is faulty.

With the car running I wiggled the connector very slightly and the car sputtered and died.

Can someone please help me with any ideas weather it could be something else or is it actually the plug as I though and where I might be able to purchase one as Infinity wants to sell me the full engine harness.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

After replacing the sensor reset the ECU and see what happens...

I disconnected the battery for over 30 min before trying again. Would that constitute an ECU reset in conjunction with clearing the code with my OBD2 reader.
I did not try the pedal reset procedure and will do so tomorrow morning when I get to the car again.

I just find it weird that the car would die with me slightly pulling on sensor plug or slightly pushing down on the connector while the car is running.

Sensor has a bolt on it so it shouldn't wiggle...feel snug when you put it in?

Sensor is snug. Plug that goes on it wiggles a bit and turns the car off when wiggling it.

Got a new connector from the scrap yard and soldered it. Idle is steady, but car will not rev past 2000-3000 as if it where hitting the rev limiter.

And still getting code P0340 if I give it a full throttle blip on the accelerator in conjunction with the vdc off slip lights...

Could this be due to the need of a new timing chain or crank sensor een though it gives the above code?

Just in case anyone else has the same issues as me with their G:

Delivered theG to my local Infinity dealership so they can diagnose the issues
As of now both CAM sensors and CRANK sensor are good and all voltages are inspec for their harnesses

They will keep investigating.....

Bad timing chain or ecu anyone?

3 days now and the G is still at the INFINITI dealership....

The only thing they found is that the valve timing is off. The tech told me at idle the valve timing is negative???
The car idles fine for some reason an even after all sensors and wires where checked it throws P0011, P0021 and P0340.

Could it be a stretched timing chain? If it skipped a tooth the car would not idle fine or not start at all.....but that does not explain the negative timing I thing.
Anyone with extensive mechanics knowledge care to comment?
