It's not a downgrade.. now your lights are symmetrical. It would bug me if one of the taillights had a stupid button on it

But, to each their own. I'm sure if the 06+ taillights were the 03 taillights, everyone would want to switch to them because they have round reverse lights and no button. Just like people think that anything JDM is instantly better then what they have. The grass is always greener on the other side my friend..

Something that I noticed is that you appear to have a different spoiler as well. I'm not sure if the '05s had it, but I'm pretty sure that the '03-'04s had it. I own an '06 coupe without the aero package, and as far as I know, '06 (maybe '05 too??) has the slimmer spoiler (the one that's roughly the width of the trunk vs the one pictured that goes past the sides of the trunk). Please correct me if I'm wrong. But as mentioned earlier, those are definitely not '06 tails.

The first pic is either an 06 or 07. The spoiler that's on it is an 07 spoiler. I have an 06 coupe and I have the button and also replaced the surfboard spoiler for an 07 spoiler like the one in the first pic.

You've already figured out what was going on with your tail lights... the 06 taillights are the best!

If I was you I would pull out the carpet behind the tail lights in the trunk and look for damage. Hopefully your car was not in a rear end accident and they replaced the trunk lid and tail lights with 03-05 parts.
I have an 05 and love the tail lights on my car, so I don't see a need to change them to 06 lights. I don't need a button on my tail lights either.

How does that button work anyways? Does it just allow anyone to open your trunk if you're nearby? Say you're in a parking lot and about to get in your car, can someone go push that button and open your trunk?
