Do I need a new tranny?

Hey guys, been doing some research on problems with our transmissions (manual), and have decided to post this up to get some feedback and see if maybe it could help others or others may know how to solve this problem

My current problem is it is hard to shift into really any gear, at a dead stop, example being- start my car in the morning, let it warm up, hop in, try to put it into first to get moving, but it feels really stiff/clunky. It wont go in smooth.
It does not grind, and thats what confuses me.
After even being warmed up, driving around for miles and miles, its still more or less difficult to shift, its not impossible, just hard. Some shifts will be smooth tho.

So my thoughts would be rev matching, this helps to a degree but does not solve it.

Ive also been told its my syncros, however my gears dont grind..

Another thought may be the transmission mount may be worn out and i could have a miss alignment some how(ill have the car on a lift this weekend so i may be able to diagnose this)

If anyone has any input or questions feel free to post up, i hope to solve this problem for myself and anyone else with this problem!

Snuff

Before you spend $$ to replace your trans, when was the last time you had it serviced? Try taking your car to your favorite mechanic and have him replace your trans fluid with either Red Line or AMSOIL synthetic trans fluid, that should help the way she shifts....Gary

it would really help if you tell us what year your car is. If you have a 03-04, its normal. If you change out the transmission fluid with new oem fluid, it will help reduce the symptoms but will not completely eliminate it.

I had the same problem, where i couldn't go into first gear during cold starts and the problem went away once the transmission warms up. When i changed the transmission fluid it happened a lot less but still did once in awhile.

I had sycro problems in 3rd and 5th as well. i upgrade too a cd009 and its lot better. The cd0009 was a huge upgrade. Never have a problem going into gear and it shifts a lot smoother. The 03-04 manual transmission are really craptastic.

But for you i would start with a transmission fluid change first, since you don't have grinding gears.

I have an 05 with 95k miles (75% freeway)
Ill look into the fluid, i know it was changed prior to buying it but i dont know by what type of fluid, ill be changing it this weekend as well as look at the tranny mount.

What i find weird, even after being warmed up it still acts this way (rough shifts)
Im hoping the fluid will change that lol.

Have you checked the slave valve ? It may be leaking or need to bleed hydraulic line.

I am having the same issue with my 05 Coupe with 87K on cold starts. I was thinking to upgrade to a different tranny fluid, but do not know which brand to go with. Let me know if that fixes your problem too.
