Brake Dust
Brake Dust
Has anyone tryed any aftermarket remedies to stop the brake dust from collecting on the mags. Something other than harder pads or cleaning solutions, surely there must be some type of cover plate that goes over the brake system that prevents this?
oh man....this is a really old topic that hasn't been mentioned for about a year now, i think: ) but yes, you can purchase ceramic brake pads which you can purchase everywhere. if you have a 5at, i would wait till after the 3 yrs/36k miles mark since it is under warranty and you will get free brakes and rotors replacements. if you get aftermarket pads, it will void the warranty. just live with the brake dust until then.
i think it depends on the dealer. but, i highly doubt that it'll be okay. first off, under the warranty, parts and labor is covered for 5at brake pads and rotors. i don't think they will replace worn pads for aftermarket pads ( which you would supply ) while doing the warranty work. secondly, that would void the warranty for both pads and rotors. but, just call them and ask.

I'am aware of harder pads ect, but I know that you can get a protective disc that covers the brakes and stuff. Right now they are only available for 15 & 16 wheels and recomended for Ford and GM, the question is 'does anyone make them for a G'.
I think someone has posted about these protective covers before also. Most people, including myself, thought it would make it look wierd. The wheels are open to be able to see the brakes, not a strange and probably very dirty piece of plastic. Even if the cover only went over the physical brake caliper I think dust would still get out unless it touched up against the rotor.
Unfortunately, it seems like all you can do is clean them often.
