Vandalism/Paint Job
Vandalism/Paint Job
Hey guys,
So I woke up this morning to a severely keyed driver side door and I was wondering if I could get your guy's opinion on how to get this fixed up without it being noticable that I had a paint job. Most times in the past in which I've seen a car repainted it looked really obvious.
Thanks

If the damage is down to the metal, you'll need to get it repainted. Whether it'll be noticeable or not after the paint job will depend on the quality of the work and how well the shop blends it in to the surrounding panels.
In other words, if you want it to look good, don't take it to a cheap shop.

I don't think it could be buffed out. They dug in deep with big circles. If brought too a good paint shop do you guys think it could be done seamlessly? I found a place that sells the original paint from Infiniti. The lady there said she could paint an unpainted door panel using it and match it exactly without blending for around 500 but Im skeptical. Thanks

I say take it to a shop and see what they have to say first. My G is red and it was keyed pretty deep. So deep you only see white lines from far away..after I was told it can be wet sanded, waxed and buffed out I just bought a scratch remover and tried it and it looked 70% better I just wish I took a before and after pictures. Now you can't really see the lines until you get really close to the car and it looks pretty good. My insurance adjuster came out and wrote me a check for $1800 for a $300 (6 hours) buffing and sanding.
Hey guys,
I actually have a friend of a friend who deals with autobody's and he said that he could go over the scratches with a micro airbrush and the sand/buff it out and it'd be near impossible to notice. Is this something you guys have heard of?
Thanks

If it can't be color sanded and buffed out which you need try first then you need to find a body shop that does quality work so the results are perfect. No blending will make it look like it was never vandalised....Gary
I figure I might as well let my friend try first seeing how the door would need to be repainted regardless :/
