Tires That Came On Car Aren't OEM Size?
New 6mt owner here. The recommended size for my 06 6mt sports package is 220 40 19 front and 245 40 19 for the rear. I was checking pressures today and noticed the previous owner had a set of 4 falken fk452s mounted. The fronts are 245 35 19 and rears are 255 40 19. Any reason for this? I am going to be needing rears soon. Now that I noticed the size discrepancy I am debating doing the fronts too then retaining them and selling on Craigslist because they still have tread. Are these tires filling up the wheel wells more than the stock sizes? Any recommendations for a good tire with decent performance properties, long lasting, cheap price? I know there will be some trade offs in each category. Should I stay with the sizes on there or go OEM? What differences would I notice? Thanks for your replies in advance.
I never liked that Nissan put 225s on the front and 245s out back, our coupes are more stable with 245s on the front especially at freeway speeds. You could run 245/35X19 on all four corners for a great ride. The words "Good Tire & Cheap Price" don't belong in the same paragraph. Check www.thetirerack.com for a good tire with a UTQG of 300 that will get you 30K+ miles of service and still work on your G35 with good traction. UTQG is the wear rating, below 300 and tire life will be shortened over and you'll have traction/stopping issues....Gary

Sure, buy the 245s for the front and get all the wear you can out of those back tires....Gary
Another benefit of having a square setup is being able to put the rear wheels on the front to equalize tire wear.

Well if the sidewall on the inside of the right front wasn't separating due to falkens **** design I would just replace the rears to cope with the uneven wear. Looks like I'm getting a full set.
You get what you pay for. These don't belong on a G.
Debating going with the Hankook v12. Anyone have any opinions on them? Also not sure whether to stick with the previous owners size preference or go back to factory size...what differences would I notice? What size fronts and rears are y'all using on your staggered rays?

They're 0.5" wider and a few lbs heavier, not like we're talking about a massive stagger here. If you have the same size tires all around then the rear wheels CAN be put on the front without any problems. Other members and myself have done this on many occasions. I brought it up since the OP mentioned uneven wear between the front and rear tires, and this is a way to prevent that.
