You can get new inner bushings.

Yea, pretty much or bent. Also, I think I replaced mine with white lines. I think a few companies make replacements. Replace the bushings on both sides while your at it.

Is it a bushing or the ball joint? If it's the ball joint, I think you can only buy the whole control arm - I don't think they sell ball joints separately... and I'm pretty sure you can pick one up for less than $400 - is that price quoted from a dealer?

Edit: I just checked at RockAuto and the most expensive control arm (ACDelco) is $130. Even a Moog or Raybestos is only $110...

If it's the bushing then they're $16.

I checked a 2006 - not sure what year your car is.

Edit #2: they also sell ball joints separately so I guess you can change them out. It's $43.

Definitely just replace the bushings with new ones.

The OE design on the inner bushings is terrible...just Nissan cutting corners to save money. I bought a set of Whiteline's bushings to replace them with...$50 shipped off of eBay.

Before I put the new bushings in, my car's front end sounded like it was going to explode over potholes and bumps on the highway. The Whiteline bushings have turned the rattles into dull "thuds" on the highway.

^ Right.

With the Whiteline LCA bushings in, the front end felt snappier and more responsive to steering input. You'll pick up a little bit of road feel, too, just as a heads up. That never bothered me, though.

I guess I'll ask my question here, how did you make sure that it was the front lower control arm bushing? Looking at pics online, like on the DIY bushing replacement, the arm doesn't stay centered, it moves to the side when bushings are bad. But looking at my arm it looked centered.

The symptoms I see are a clunk sound when going on an incline such as a driveway and certain bumps and the car being a bit wobbly over potholes.

Does that sound like the lower control arm bushings need replacing?

That sounds more like a compression rod bushing. Mine used to clunk all the time going into driveways and what not until I replaced them.
