Negative about the Z tube?

I have heard alot of good thing about the Z tube. is there anything bad about it? Does it have problem with the A/C host? And for last, can I just install it without having the performance filter?

I know there are alot of Z tube topic, but i get confuse with the pop charger. Is the pop charger mess up the A/C host or is it the Z tube?

Thank you so much.

ok. z tube you can install without the pop charger.

the pop charger is what some say is too close to the ac line. but that is a quick fix because you can just take a zip tie and pull the ac line back a little and zip tie it......pretty simple~ hope that helpS~

and no negatives about the z tube. just increases air flow. nice little mod.

^ yes, it's still fine. however, the stock filter is a bit restrictive.

Grubbs has the K&N filter for only $35. Plus, you only have to clean and re-oil it every 15,000 miles (if my memory serves me right- if this interval is incorrect someone correct me), or you can just install a whole new one every 15,000 miles if you're too lazy to clean and re-oil it with the K&N cleaning kit ($13).

You wouldn't get more hp from CAI? If its just a couple of rwhp for the CAI then forget it, but what does the z tube add?

There is a negative to the Z-Tube.. the sound at higher rpms is so sexy you will soon notice your mpg will significantly decrease!! After i got the Z-Tube installed i think i got around 130 miles to a tank of gas.. its slowly getting to be around 200 nowadays

Haha, the low mileage has to do with ur foot right? The Z tube doesn't affect the mileage, right?

BTW, I looked at the DIY of the Z tube, it was pretty striaght forward. But the DIY of K&N filter looks a bit confusing. Does anyone have a better DIY of K&N filter.

The oem intake is extreamly well designed, it is in fact a cold air intake. No aftermarket long tube or short ram intake system brings in colder air then the oem system does. This coming from factual data that measured the incomming air of the MAF sensor. Best we've ever seen was 3 degree's cooler, my setup and a hybraid Injen with a popcharger filter that was plumbed to draw in front of the radiator (it's on a 350Z). 3 degree's in meaningless power wise.
