Passenger window seal - dealer stumped
Passenger window seal - dealer stumped
All, here's the deal. 3 weeks ago I bought a used 07 coupe. The dealer made a list of a few small things they'd fix but needed parts. One issue was the passenger widow seemed off the track as you could wiggle and rattle it when it was 1/2 down and auto up would hit top and go back down like it sensed a finger in the way.
So they opened it up and said it needed new motor and regulator because they were damaged by the loose window. On thier dime but when I picked it up there was a gap on the side. They readjusted window but still there. Then they stuffed some black rubber tube into the door-window gasket to puff it up. Not acceptable to me. They agreed and said they'd set up an appointment at a body shop?
My thoughts are that the gasket got damaged due to window pinching it or that they don't have the expertise to adjust the window. It still moves more than it should when you wiggle it Btw it's a Chevrolet dealer.
Is the door/window sealing gasket expensive and they're trying to get out of it?
I'll get pics soon. Any thoughts?

1. Arent you curious WHY it was off track? Why was it taken out? Accident? Flood damage?
2. Window sealing gasket = Im still confused on what you are referring to; the molding along the top of the door? https://www.infinitipartsonline.com/...FcYBRQodnAPKMQ
3. So they are setting you up with a body shop, which is good... Seems to me like they are doing whatever they can to help you, short of sending you to an Infiniti dealership.

Agreed. I'm actually impressed with thier efforts but concerned with thier expertise or bigger car issues as you point out. The carfax showed no accident or flood. Broken glass found in the door when they worked on it?
Yes - molding along top but the side of the window and the pillar is where there's an issue.
One other thing I just noticed is that when you close the door the window goes up an inch not just a fraction like on the drivers side. I waited an hour while they said they were trying to adjust or set up the window do it would close right.
Ultimately I just want it fixed right because I love the car. If they can't do it I'll pay someone and like I said my confidence is eroding.

Ah, so maybe it was broken into and just never replaced/repaired properly. It is kind of a bi*ch on the G to align that big, heavy window! Shouldnt be too hard though, just had mine done last week after a door lock actuator install...
Im sure the body shop will get it right... Its a pain but its not difficult! Good luck....

Sorry for the delayed follow up but it took a while to diagnose plus a vacation to the lake.
Body shop said they guessed it was the aftermarket window. Back to the dealer and they tried another motor and regulator. Still no luck but again they were trying.
Finally at a Nissan dealer at original dealers expense. New oem window and gasket all around ad the other window had warped the gasket.
5 times in the shop but ultimately it's fixed, no creaking or wind noise and I'm very happy.
I'm going to write a complamentary letter to the dealer. I know it cost them $1000 at Nissan and thier in house time must have added up to a lot as well.

Sounds like a top-notch dealer. It's hard to find stealers with that kind of commitment to their customers anymore.
I was going to say if they can't get it lined up, you could try and do it yourself. The window is only held to the track by three bolts...it's incredibly easy to loosen and align as long as you have a second set of hands to help you out.
