Don't feel bad, OP. People laughed at Einstein, Newton, and the Catholic Church sentenced Galileo to imprisonment for supporting Copernicus' earlier heresy that the sun, in fact, did not revolve around the earth.

So here's what you should do:

Buy a small wind turbine and mount it to the roof of your car. Also get an electric motor, and have a pulley fabricated and welded around your driveshaft. Your engine will be used only to initially move your car, then you can shut it off until you come to a stop and need to restart. Once underway, the electricity generated by the wind turbine on your roof will power your electric motor, which drives the car, and spins the wind turbine. Voila, it's the perfect perpetual motion machine, and you'll far exceed your 30 m.p.g. target.

Please post lots of pictures as you assemble your >30 m.p.g. G35. We'll all be anxious to read about your progress.

The amount of money you will have to spend for this engine swap, you won't be able to make that back or break even in the fuel savings for a long long time... Not feasible...

I was being facetious. Cool idea, though.

Just buy a motorcycle as an alternative vehicle. That way you can both have fun and get good gas millage... and you won't look like such a panzy-a$$ as someone in a Versa.
