ok so i took off the g35 badge for starters but the inprint of the g35 is still a little there as far as like the shadow what do i use to get rid of it completely ??

 

If your talking about the residue then wd-40 or rubbing alcohol will take care of that. Be sure to clean it afterwards though/
But if it's mostly the fading of the paint then it takes time for it to be less noticeable.
Nothing u can really do except repaint the trunk, but that's kinda overkill.
The more your car was outside in the sun the longer it will take to fade to a less noticeable degree.

 

You can also use a buff and compound polish to get it out. I wld have it professionally done tho... Don't want to over do it and butcher the paint.

My G has the same problem. My OB G is black, yes, but the black where the "I N F I N I T I" used to be is actually darker. It's not immediately noticeable unless you walk right up on the car, though.

Same as mine- im Lr and the glue does fade the paint. I had mine professionally removed and he tried everything. You can get it to the point where you need to look pretty close but once you catch it it's pretty obvious. I'm looking at a full reprint anyway if I get my 05 spoiler put on... We will see but I don't think you'll get rid of it completely.

 

If we're discussing the shadows left by the letters or Mt Fuji emblem I tried everything in my garage from ScratchX to compound and my buffer. What it requires is a high speed buffer and compound that will create enough heat to remove em. I paid a detail guy at the local car wash $20 to hit that and my rear bumper where I had some scratches....done!

You can buff out. The imprint is PROBABLY that of the glue residue. I've removed a few badges in my day and in modern cars, it's RARELY the paint unless you live in a harsh area or you just got a lemon of a paint job. My 03 had that issue. Took a rubber ball to it and voila. Once I figure out how to remove this dadgum spoiler, I'm gonna fill the holes and then repaint the trunk. But for now, it's good to go.

 

i have faced the same problem when i de-badged my side guard molds. I now have a horizontal 1 inch shade on each side of the car, where the paints is somewhat different than the rest of the car.

 

paint fade. Most do it, some don't. Mine had the shadow, buffing makes it "less" noticeable, but it's still going to be there. Debadged my wife's G and her's is flawless. Zero shadow.

Agreed, unless you repaint there will likely always be a little something there.

 

You just have to remove just enough paint to remove the shadow. I sanded with 3000 grit, Meguiar's 105 x4/MF pad, 203S/Green x1, PO85RD x2. Shadow was completely eliminated.

Also, if you sand make sure you use a soft block.

I buffed and buffed the spot where the I N F I N T I was, and I can still see it if I walk up on the car. It's not noticeable unless you really look for it, though. Even the KH3 touch up paint I bought from Nissan to fix a few nicks in the paint is darker than the rest of the car.

I know my trunk had been repainted in the past, while the PO had the car. How far back, I don't know. But I get the feeling that the body shop rushed, and didn't put enough hardener or catalyst in the paint. The clear on my trunk is fairly easily scratched, even with enough pressure from a fingernail. So I can understand how my paint might potentially fade. The sunlight and UV index in Nashville isn't exactly friendly.
