Preventative Headlight Restoration???

To make a long story short, I have a brand new set of headlights I bought from one of the infiniti dealers on the forum. The ones on my personal car are faded and I've buffed them several times in the past couple of years. They look decent from the front but when viewed from the side, you can see a dull yellowish tint around the perimeter of the headlights.

I was wanting to know if there is anything I can do to the new ones to keep them from fading in the future. Maybe clearcoating them or something of that nature?

People ask me all the time how I keep my headlights looking like new. Just seal/wax them and keep them clean.

Would you also recommend not having it hard parked under the sun? I have my car hard parked but not in the garage. Not really sure if the sun would also have anything to do with it?

^Yellowing is from UV damage. Wax/Sealant or what I linked protects against that, thus protects from yellowing.

What I linked will give better UV protection than Wax according to Meguiars

303, while commonly used on headlights, is really just a water based dressing that washes off pretty easily. This will dramatically outlast that product or any of our water based dressings, and provide much more UV protection than using a wax or sealant

Just keep them waxed or use what screensavers posted.

The headlights come with a protective layer similar to a clear coat, and it slowly wears down over time from the UV rays and buffing. Do not buff your headlights until you need to, just clean and protect them. Once the protective layer is gone, the headlights will oxidize, as they will be losing electrons to oxygen as the UV rays provide energy for the transfer to happen. Wax is porous, so a sealant would work better in this case. You do not want the headlight to touch oxygen, which is why a constant wax/sealant barrier is always recommended

He just wants to maintain the new look not restore his headlights. The 3M is the best kit if you're headlight are hazed....Gary

I can't seem to find any decent customer reviews on that product, have you tried it? I wouldn't be surprised if it was just one of their waxes with a different label.

Its a new product so there isn't much out there, I bought it and put it on. It Defiantly isn't like any of their waxes it doesn't spread as easy and its harder to wipe off. Also Meguiars doesn't really put out crap on the market so I trust it. Its been on there for a month so far. Cant really tell until like 8 months+ if it really works well
