2006 g35 coupe automatic transmission no lag!

All or almost all g35s have that shift lag when you use the triptronic shift on the automatic transmissions. Well i installed a d5100r xs power battery. Ran dual 0 gauge wire for negative and the shift lag is GONE shifts fast and quick. I am going to upgrade the alternator wire to 0 gauge also. I had my 2000rms system at full tilt and the tranny shiftes with no problems. Just trying help out some people. Heres a pic of the battery.

No idea. I heard the redtops now suck. Redtops retail around 160-200$ i believe. I bought this battery for 250 off of crutchfield. You need the xs power d5100R version. Make sure its the R version. R= reversed polarity. So these battery can work with our cars without modifying the terminals.

So why would this battery get rid of the shift lag?

I have no idea. All i know is that the shift lag on my 06 coupe with 90k miles is gone. Ive read about people installing the "grounding kit" and getting rid of it also.

Interesting. I might have to give this a shot. Only 60k on my 2005, but manually shifting seems a bit slow. Have a 2009 VW GLI with the DSG transmission with sport mode and it's much faster shifting.

It was the improved grounding wires, thats known to slightly help the 5AT.

Maybe first try replacing the ground wire with 0gauge. When i took off the original ground there was paint underneath it. Maybe that explains why people say to replace the ground wire

Will definitely look at the 0 gauge first, since the battery is only a few months old.

1 run of 0 gauge should be fine. I ran 2 because i have a audio system. Make sure the wire you get is NOT CCA!

Alright, I have a small audio system, also, but it just uses a JL audio 400 watt amp. Would that matter for 1 or 2 ground wires? What brand 0 gauge are you running? Thanks

Im using knukonceptz Kolossus wire. Its 4$ a foot off of amazon. And im using knukonceptz 0 gauge terminals. 8$ a pair. Also 1 ground wire from bat negative to chassis. And you can run one to the engine block if you want.

Very interesting...

I'm not familiar with the grounding wire for the battery - if I were to get a new one how many feet should I be looking for? And is it hard to replace (i.e. hard to reach, etc.)?

And what is "CCA" and why is it bad to get that type?

Changing the ground wire is simple. Get like 1-2 feet of 0 gauge wire. Get a battery terminal that accepts 0gauge input. And a 0 gauge terminal. Remove the trim piece around the battery ( like 6 plastic clips hold it in). Then remove the negative wire. ( 2 10mm bolts). Sand the area underneath and place the wire there using the old bolts.
Also CCA wire is copper cladded aluminim. Its not PURe copper. So its not as good as pure copper wire. But it is cheaper.
