Castrol Edge no good? I don't know...I'm wondering myself. They have the new Castrol Edge with Syntec 0w-30 and the numbers look almost identical to the GC 0w-30. Could it be the same oil in a new bottle?
Unfortunately, there are no Autozones where I live so that is not an option for me, but thanks for the replies.
@Gary...from reading I thought that 0w-30, 5w-30, and 10w-30, are basically the same once it reaches operating temperature? The first number only has to do with start-up. From my interpretation it seems like its ok to go down on the first number, 10w to 5w or 5w to 0w. Since this number only has to do with startup. The second number is more the weight or viscosity number. With that said, I'm not sure how going with a 10w-30 could help my problem if I'm using 5w-30. I can see maybe using the 10w-40, but in that case I might go with a 5w-40 or 0w-40 due to it getting cold where I live. Then again, regardless of the weights of oils you mentioned they are all in the acceptable ranges for your VQ. Maybe its just a matter of changing from Mobil 1 5w-30 to Amsoil or another brand of oil. Hmm...

Hey Dofu...thanks for your input. From the "VQ Oil Analysis and Info" thread at my350z.com it shows that Motul is one of the worst oils to use. Lots of wear and most of the findings were "all in the red" when compared to other oils.
Here's the link for those of you that are interested:

Maybe Motul is better in some way, I just don't know if its great for your engines by the results of this test. Please chime in if I'm wrong though.

Castrol changed the names:
Castrol Syntec -> Castrol Edge w Syntec
Castrol Edge -> Castrol Edge w Titanium (this one burns like hell on the VQ)

I'm pretty sure that they only make the German Castrol in 0W-30. If you're seeing some Castrol Syntec in a 5W-30, it's not the right stuff that we're referring to as "German Castrol".

Thanks for the replies. There is Castrol at the American facilities here in the UK, but its in 5w-30 or 10w-30. No made in Germany or European Formula. Only the ones that said made in the USA.
Again, no autozones here. Even if there was an autozone or different store its way way expensive. We are talking $15 to $20 a quart. That's $75-100 in just oil without the filter. Just like everything else in the UK, things are not cheap. Also, if you have an oil consuming G that means you'd be using a lot more quarts at those prices as well. So if you guys had the choice to buy GC at those prices would you? Or would you go with the Mobil 1 0w-40, Pennzoil Platinum, or Castrol (Made in USA) oil priced at $6.50 to $8.00.
When I read the spec sheets from the Castrol site it talked about the USA line up of Castrol products. Could the new (Made in the USA) 0w-30 be the same as the GC that everyone is using? The specs look the same so that's why I'm asking. Thanks for you all the posts.

Try to find used oil analysis (UOA) on bobistheoilguy forums, or send a used sample to bnlackstone for testing.
