So last night I hit an animal going like 25mph. It was either a coyote or dog, couldn't tell which. Heres some pics.. it messed up my front bumper. I'm not sure what to do.. either replace it which costs like $1100 or just get it popped out. Also im interested in aftermarket bumpers, like the nismo. Any opinions? Heres some pics of the damage :/

$1100 to repair that?? Just go aftermarket. You can get a nicer looking bumper with paint for less than that.

yup.. got a estimate at 2 different shops and both of them said it would be over $1000. pretty ridiculous. I am definitely considering aftermarket!

edit: not repair. he said he would pop it out for $100 but I could see a bunch of scratches and stuff, the $1100 is for a brand new bumper painted.

Before you go to a bodyshop, take the bumper off the car and see how it looks after you pop out that dent, it might not be too bad. it doesn't look like it broke anywhere.

heat it up with heat gun or hair drier and push it back out.

be careful not to bake the paint.

I was going to suggest the same thing. That spot is prone to damage anyways, so if it's a little scratched, it's not the biggest deal in the world, as long as the main deformation of the lower fascia pops back to its original shape. As much as I love my car, I can't justify spending $1100 to fix some superficial scratches at that spot of the bumper.

take it off yourself with the diy write ups on this site and heat it and slowly pop it out and see what it looks like..wouldnt your insurance cover the repair though if you did get a new bumper?

Get after market bumper and pop that out yourself.

That's too much for just that.. u can buy a new front bumper for less than that and have it painted for 200.. a total of no more than 600. But like other said.. a heat gun and pop it back into place..

I live in southern Maine and before I bought my G I never worried about deer because I have been driving a chevy truck with a 6" superlift and 315s. I looked down on deer.

I've had the car for 8 weeks. The other night I put my high beams on and could see the belly of a HUGE deer bounding just to off my right front corner. Probably 5-6 feet off the side of the road. Gave me a whole new perspective really fast. Seemed like it could come right through the windshield.

My way of saying - glad you're ok. Pop it out. Onward and upward.

WTH is that? Did you ran over the entire coyote family? And you drove that all the way home....with its face on the ground? Must have been nasty.

It seems like you werent going fast enough to kill whatever you hit to identify it. Next time, a tad faster lol. On the other hand... a nice heat gun on a nice sunny day, take the bumper off and let it get warmed up by the sun and then start to evenly heat up the affected areas and try to massage the dent out. Should have pretty good results.

Like other's have said I really think that will come out very well with heat and popping it back out. Worst case it doesn't look good enough for your standards and then you can go aftermarket for much less than $1k.

haha yeah.. suprisingly when I went back to look the animal was totally gone.. hopefully I didnt kill it!

I'll definately try to pop it out myself. Thanks for all the input!
