g35 coupe questions

hey ive got a 2004 g35 coupe. im going to start doing some mods... trying to figure out which mods are the best to start with. i was thinking a cold air intake. i found one for like 50 60 bucks on ebay. idk why i should spend 2 or 3 hundred on an injen. any advice would be great

I don't suggest buying a cheapo mod for a G off ebay, even an intake. I also don't suggest buying a $300 intake. CAI's give no gains on a G, they are only for sound. I've seen dyno's showing CAI's gaing a little, lossing a little, and changing none- for the G.

Best bet is K&N drop in filter ($50) + z-tube ($50)....and a 5/16"s to 5/8" Plenum spacer.

NNOOOOO!!!!! You own an Infiniti G35. Dont jew out on parts imo then sell the G and buy a civic. But honestly search the forums, read the stickys and youll learn what and what not to buy and many options of different parts...

^^^I agree with jninja26. Z-tube w/K&N Filter or even better a performance dry filter are ideal for your G35. Aluminum pipe on intakes cannot insulate very well and you will lose horsepower. Z-tubes are made of rotomolded plastic which will insulate better and increase horsepower (slightly). Also, if you do not have the rev-up engine, look into getting the rev-up air box (back side) because the velocity stack is larger than non rev-up air box.

Sigh... I spent my first few months using the "Search" bar and reading a bit about modding the G. I Highly recommend you do the same. Might learn something about the car you now own... Also IMO Ebay is useless, nothing but knock offs and cheap useless crap. Go ahead get that intake, maybe chrome muffler tips, spinner hubcaps, and see if they have a Type R logo you can slap on the back!

Hey Danny, intakes offer no gains in HP only changes in sound. All you need is a Z-Tube to change the sound and a K&N drop in filter (most auto parts stores) so she'll breathe better. Try really hard to stay away from ebay, you'll never get your $$ worth. Before you jump on the mod wagon read all the stickys at the top of this page and use our SEARCH function so you won't look silly asking question already answered a gazillion times. Watch our MARKETPLACE for someone selling a used z-tube....Gary
