Anyone think of talking to Killjulez and see if he would be interested in tackling this?

I have wanted a car with a metal gate shifter since I was 12. By the time I was a few years into college, I started looking into the idea of retrofitting one to a car but gave up because I didn't have access to machine shop equipment. Pretty sure I can do it with only a mill at work now but I haven't had a chance to sit down and get the dimensions down and try to make it. If I can figure out how to get the appropriate dimensions easily and accurately it would help motivate me to do it. The idea of working with cardboard templates and trial and error seems like it could take all day before finding a template that may or may not work after its machined and installed

The biggest issue though is that our shifters have a large taper that extends up past the height of the console. So its really fat there. I don't know what to do about that or if there are any shifters that don't have the insulator bushing that makes it require that taper. Anyone know of one or do I have to make that too? see the attached photo for the stepped tapers I am talking about
