horrible squealing noise
horrible squealing noise
i have this horrrrrrrrrrrrrrrid squeaking noise coming from my front right tire.......when im just crusin in neutral down a hill......or just moving forward at maybe above 15 mph??????/ does anyone know what this sound is? im guessing something is wrong with the brake????? thank you
Actually I know exactly what you are talking about, only in my car and couple of others I heard from, it was actually coming from the rear-passenger side wheel.
It has something to do with the rear axle, or wheel bearing, or something of that sort. I took it twice to the dealer and on the second time they said they re-lubed the axle (or whatever that means...).
The sound itself shows up like you said - while cruising (especially on a downhill). If you apply the brakes it goes away. The noise is a rocking squeaking - kind'a like a two rusted joints being worked out.
Take it to the dealer.
Good luck.

Does the G have brake pad life expiration warning devices...little metal tabs that make a terrible sound once the pad wears down enough for them to come in contact with the brake disk. This noise will go away when you hit the brakes. This is common on GM cars.
Sam, ive got a wretched squeeling noise coming from my car too - but its when im goin like 5mph and tap the brakes...if i apply pressure to the breaks it doesnt squeal, but if i just tap them, it squeeks like crazy. Pisses me off too
Anyone kow about this???

I thought every car with disc brakes has this?

That sucks- my '91 300ZX's front wheel bearings finally had to be replaced at 160,000 miles, rears are fine. At least it is covered by warranty. With my luck, my G's bearings will shoot craps at 65,000 miles
