K&N filter is great. Most G's and Z's drop them in.
Noticeable noise difference too.

If you want a new intake, just get an OEM Z-Tube and or Pop Charger along with it.

Wrong....^....sorry fForce! Although Pop Chargers sound good, in warm weather they'll cause you to lose 30% HP due to "Heat Soak!" You need to make a decision if you want pretty or functional with no loss in power. Z-Tube is a great idea, totally changes the way our coupes sound. Then all you need is a K&N or AMSOIL drop in filter so she can breathe better....Gary

Maybe you don't have the "HEAT SOAK" issues in the frozen north but anywhere across the US where it reaches the '80s and the surface temp will hit 100+ degrees Pop Chargers will cost you HP. Any intake with metal tubing will cause this issue. Stillens CAI is not effected because of the plastic composite construction and why I keep one as a alternative for my Fujita intake....Gary

Our VQ motors love cool air and why I love to hit the streets when there's a chill in the air. Second gear scratch is SO easy even with my sticky Michelins....Gary
Ok ya that makes sense, I always kinda felt like my car drove a lot nicer on cool days and evenings, thought that was just me though haha

Well you lose hp in any weather with the pop charger. Not really from a roll, the problem is when you come to a stop for any amount of time, the popcharger soaks in all the hot air from the engine and does so until you get fresh air flowing into it at maybe 15-20mph. At speed should pretty much be the same, but if you race anyone from a dig or at the track it's going to cost you.

I live in Michigan so we have cold winters here, I'll just replace the filter with a K&N for now, and maybe go with the whole intake setup next summer

I drive in high heated areas and have never noticed this heat soak before. I won't say it doesn't happen, just not enough to where I can tell. I also never race, so it doesn't matter to me..

I didn't notice any noise difference with my K&N drop in for the year I had it...barely with ztube.

30% is not an exact number. But yes short ramis suseptable to heat soak. The stock air box on the G is well designed, any gain from any intake on a G is negligible. Sounds good from what I hear though. I have a turbo G and my intake filter is located in the drivers side mesh area of the sport bumper...good fabrication I think.
