Brakes almost killed my g today

So I just installed my new viper alarm with remote start last week. Before work today I started my car to let it run, with this being said we all know the distinct sound of the exhaust. As i looked out the window to my surprise the CAR IS GONE!!!!! Automatically I knew i had left the car in gear the night prior FML. Now I live on a side street that runs into a very busy street especially busy at 730 AM. Now back to the story I run outside and to my surprise (expecting the worst) the car manages to evade a PARKED CAR, MY NEIGHBORS BOAT which is on the street, goes through a stop sign across the the busy street jumping the curb and finally stopping on the front lawn of a neighbor. Now besides a little paint on the front bumper and slightly dented fender thats all that happened to the car how lucky am I.

I had that happen on an old vehicle of mine I let warm up when I was in high school. I went inside to grab something, stayed inside for a few minutes, came out... and the truck was gone. It was a 5 spd and just rollled on down the street. Was terrifying, but she just drifted down the street and stopped at a neighbor's trash container with no damage.

You'll never make that mistake again lol
A buddy of mine left his mustang on a hill in front of my place without the handbrake on and luckily only hit a small wall with his tire!

I have a viper in my G and it won't let it start unless I do that little handbrake/neutral ritual first. Strange, but glad the damage was minimal!

This is why some shops are a little hesitant to install remote start systems in manual cars. I bet once in a while they'll have someone come back and try to blame the shop when something like this happens. Don't some of the new alarms have some sort of bypass so that it won't start if the car is in gear though?

It must have been an older model, none of the new vipers AFAIK are capable of starting in gear. If I don't set the brain before I leave the car when I park it won't even send the message out to try to start.

Damn sucks, always thought remote starts would have some kind of protection from starting the car in gear.

Hahaha...Sorry bro I had to laugh at this story... there is no need to have you're car in gear when it is parked! ....thats what the Emergency brake is for....just saying

How did the lady try to "catch" it?
Only way I would try to stop it is by hopping inside, then taking off 'cause you left the keys inside!

this may be 1 of 2 reasons I'm glad I have an Automatic Trans...

"Ghost Riding the G" would have made a hell of a YouTube hit though!

last jeep GC i had had a tranny parking issue. Had it roll out of driveway before. MEchanic fixed fuel pump, left car running with the door open, and ripped the driver door off on the garage wall
