HFC with aftermarket exhaust?

HFC with aftermarket exhaust?
Hey guys....just wondering that when you get an aftermarket exhaust....does it eliminate the need for the 4 stock cats? Whenever I see hfcs for sale I seem to only see them in pairs. Are 4 cats not needed when going with an aftermarket exhaust? Its not 100% just yet, but I plan to buy a full motordyne TDX2 exhaust. One of my OEM cats are damaged so I'm replacing those as well. Figured I would just need to buy a pair of HFCs instead of 4. In the pic from motordyne, it looks like the cats come already installed on the exhaust. If that's case then I won't have to worry about it. I need cats due to legality issues so ART pipes are out of the question. Thanks for your help.

ART Pipes and cats replace the same piece of the exhaust system(they hook up to the headers). Since our engine is a v6 you have two headers and each header ending is hooked up to a cat/test pipe and from there you have a full exhaust system(from cats all the way to the exhaust tips).
Also art pipes can pass emissions with nonfoulers

Hey guys, I have to say thanks for clearing up my confusion. For some reason I thought there were 4. A mechanic told me we had 4, but now that I think of it, maybe he was talking about oxygen sensors. So onto my next question:
So I can use art pipes with nonfoulers and still pass an emissions test? How much do non foulers cost? Where can I get them? Is this a better option than running HFCs? I don't want to have an CEL problems. Everything I read about art pipes sound great, so it definately sounds like an option, I just did not think this was even possible to pass emissions without cats. Thanks for your help.

If all they do is hook up to your ECU non foulers will prevent a code from being thrown and as such you will get away with it. If you search for them you will see what people came up with, i believe they are even sold on this forum for like 20-30 bucks.
If they do hook up stuff to your tails then you may not pass. but generally most states do just ecu hook up

Thanks for all the input.
Actually I'm not in the states. I shipped my car over and I'm in the UK now. Went to a car show this past weekend and saw one Skyline 350GT for sale that was bone stock. Its a very uncommon car over here. Anyway, I don't know their emissions standards, but I want to say that on my annual report there are numbers listed for various emissions testing. So I think they do more than just check the ECU. Sounds like HFC are the way to go. I'm guessing I'm going to have to do another search that as well. Anyone want to make a suggestion for a recommended HFC? Are they are all equal? Thanks.

ART pipes won't pass the smog sniffer test anywhere, and no you won't need nonfoulers with Motordynes latest Art pipes. All the current HFCs should pass smog in 48 states, but not CA. Switch to your OE cats for the test and switch back to your HFCs or ART pipes once you've passed....that's how we play their game!

No idea how you'd pass e-test with no cats if they hook up to your exhaust.
