G35 or Evo
Hey guys I've been going back and forth for months about whether or not I should sell the G and buy an Evo instead.
First off, I love my car and don't necessarily want to sell it. However, I recently moved from Washington to Colorado and I'm thinking that an Evo might suit me better here. I haven't experienced a Colorado winter yet, but I know having 4wd here will be better for going up to the mountains and snowboarding. (anyone from the boulder area wanna give me some insight on how intense the snow gets here).
My reasons for wanting to switch to the Evo are simple. It has 4wd and is easier/cheaper to make power on. My reasons for not wanting to switch are: I LOVE my car. Plain and simple. It's like a child to me.
If I keep my car, I'll want to turbocharge it within the next year or two. I know this wont be cheap, easily $10k maybe even $15k, so I was thinking buying a car that is already turboed might make more sense. I do not want my car to be unreliable, so I would try to make my build as reliable as possible and this costs money. Either one will be my DD.
I've always wanted an Evo but they were out of my price range when I bought the G. If I sell my aftermarket parts and my car I'll be able to pick up a nice Evo with only spending about $4k or less. I already have the money saved up.
So, my question is simple. Should I keep my G or sell it and get an Evo?

Depends on how much power you want and what your after. Evo is less luxurious and and is a sedan which can carry people, the G on the other hand is nicer inside and has more features. Also making more power on the evo is easier until you hit "that" wall. My buddy has an 800hp evo9 and is over 50k into it. Also depends which evo your looking to get, a 9, an X?

why not just wait another year and get the new g. The rumor is the new 2014 g will be a turbo v6 and get it with awd. You can have reliability, turbo, and awd.
If your on a budget then i would just get the evo. You sound like your in the high hp mode and the evo would be a cheaper route to get cheap hp.

Depends what the purpose of the car is for. If it's your DD, I'd keep the G as it'll be more reliable and it's nicer. If this car is your "weekend car" then I'd go with the evo all day.
Before I recently bought my G I was looking at evo's, but i bought a G because it's my DD and I wanted a nicer car to drive everyday than something that looked and felt juvenile.

Thanks for the responses guys! For those of you suggesting getting a newer G, that's just out of the question.
I'm planning on driving in the snow and I can't bring myself to destroy such a nice/new car with all the salt, debris and whatnot that is on the road. This is why I was thinking about getting an Evo because even though its more expensive, I won't have a problem thrashing it in the snow (to a certain extent). I feel like I'll have more peace of mind driving an Evo here...
And Gary, you hit the nail on the head with the practicality point. I just dont know if I can bring myself to sell my car
I won't be making any final decisions until I actually see what winters are like here.
Another thing swaying my decision is the amount of G's that are here. I have only seen one or two G coupes here, about 5 Evos and a million Subarus. So I have the chance to be unique

You're missing the point. I'm either keeping my car, or getting an Evo. There are no other options.
I'd love a GTR! Drove my buddies in the snow back in washington and had a blast! It was on the stock tires though, so there was no traction at all
I think you're right. I've only driven the G in the snow once and I was TRYING to get it to slide. Wasn't hard. An Evo would be really safe in the snow, no doubt.

If you're already seeing that many Subarus then that's probably a good hint as to how the weather will be like lol. You should ask around or maybe Google some forum threads about Colorado winters. I love my G as well, but I'd much rather have a much safer car in the snow (AWD>RWD).

I had this exact same debate when I bought my g. I was either getting a g or an Evo. I decided on a g because I was moving to Oregon and didn't need to worry about the snow to much longer. But if I lived where there was lots of snowy winters I would take either t and Evo or an s4 all day long.
