C4, C5 of Z06? I believe the lowest HP is 350hp and they are lighter than the G. Plus, they have more torque...my money would be on the Vette. Sorry to say. Now, if you went FI, you'd have a chance.Originally Posted by got35

A 330hp Auto C4 vs. a 280 MT '04 G......interesting. He's got 50 hp on you but he's also got 9yrs too. If you drive well I think you have a chance.

I had a 1996 Auto LT1 (300hp) Corvette and now an 05 G35c AT. You only got 330hp (And an underrated 330hp at that) in a 96 vette if you got a six speed so he doesn't have that. Unless he has problems with it I don't think have a chance. Sorry.
Now my 96 vette had what is called the G92 axle option which gives a more perfomance gear (3.15's if I remember correctly). If he has the standard 2.73 gears I don't know what they can do since I never drove one. But I would doubt it would make a big difference.
My best bet is to save your money. And then ask him how he likes the feeling of cowl shake.

Straight Line Fast Doesnt Mean Real Life Fast--- Race Him On A Curvy Street. You Will Not Lose Any Ground If He Cant Keep Accelerating.g35s Have A Distinctly Bavarian Suspension--like A Glove! Point --g! But Really--he'd Spank You On Any Straight Line.

The vette weighs around 200 pounds less than your car. Yes, it only is rated for 300 hp, but it's the 335 lb ft of low end torque that'll leave you in the dust. Even on curvy roads, he'll dust you. And don't let it fool you that it's american made, the older version of the Vette is only slightly slower than newer ones. They just aren't anywhere near as refined. You really won't have much chance. 0-60 on LT-1 C4 vette is around 5.3 with a lateral g-force of .94, so it'll handle any road.

The 1996 LT1 came with 300 horsepower (underrated) as opposed to the LT4 which only came with the 6 speed and underrated at 330 horsepower. He would take you on the 1/4 but the twistys might be a little different. By the way Blue 68 not to be **** but it is 340 ft/lbs of torque.

have u guys seen the new corvette?? i love those color matching headlights....wish it came with my black coupe.....

I really don't think you should race him. It's too big of a risk. Use the bet money and put in your "Turbo/Super Charger funding foundation"
Much as I love the G and hate to say it I don't think you have a chance. It has significantly more horsepower, more torque at lower rpms and is lighter.

What are you guy's talking about with these "twisty" BS?
I'm not a huge Vette fan, but as far as I know, they put down some of the best lap times of cars in their class. Not quite a Porsche 911 level, but the new Vettes are closing the gap, and I'd be willing to bet the older Vettes weren't too shabby either.

Go to the nearest drag strip this spring when they open back up and bet him dinner.
Anything can happen! I lost to an RSX with my supercharger because I got a little throttle happy and spun 1st and 2nd gear.
Practice your launches and if you do beat him, I'll bet he will say "how bout best two out of three"!
Good luck - Be SAFE
