Short block improvements
I failed my O.C. test with my 06 G35 coupe 6mt with 6400 miles on it. My new short block is at the dealer waiting to be installed on 10/29/12.
I did some searching on this forum and found this post about the short block by a member

they WILL NOT give out any more longblocks.. Ive tried, but its actually better to get a short block because it was made by a new manufacture with improved/redesigned. A new long block wont solve the problem as it has not been refined like the short block.
Can anyone confirm that the short block now being installled has been improved where
the long block is now not needed ? I did have my valve covers changed so the dealer could
check the journals for scoring. If they were, they were going to try to get the long block.
They told me the valve train looked like new since the car has only 6400 miles on it.
I also was wondering if any of the numbers and letters on the top of the short block mean anything ? Do they put the build date on them so you know when it was built ? It would at least give you an idea maybe something was done to improve the short block based on its build date. These are the numbers and letters on my block i went to look at and get pictures.
Top front 120606 and below that 0086 The first set of #'s look like the way they write dates down overseas, backwards compared to how its done in the USA aka 060612.
