Regret not getting the Nav?
Re: Regret not getting the Nav?
I won't have any regrets on not haveing a $2k glorified map. Don't get me wrong, I think it is a cool gadget. However, I think I will just spend $200 and get a nice GPS receiver for my Pocket PC that has many of the same features and that you can take with you!
Re: Regret not getting the Nav?
i dont regret getting the navi. as mentioned above, there are plenty of reasons why it is really neat/convenient other than the cool, accurate mapping functions. i was mr macho map man until i saw this thing. now i can be mr macho something else... i'll keep the atlas in the trunk though...
sure 2k is a lot of money but when you are spending 35k already 2k is pretty insignificant. besides, if you were to sell the car down the road, chances are, you will be able to recoup at least a little of it. or least that is what i am telling myself so i can sleep better at night so please do not flame my logic.

Re: Regret not getting the Nav?
Food for thought. The satellite can track you and knows where you are......who else also does? Sound paranoid? No, just a heightened state of awareness.....

Re: Regret not getting the Nav?
The satellites do not track you. They broadcast a signal that the GPS receiver picks up and uses to determine where it is. The GPS receiver does not transmit.
Systems like OnStar do what you describe, as they can transmit that data through the builtin cell phone transmitter. However, their system does not allow them to track you unless you are requesting directional help, are involved in an accident, or report your car stolen.

Re: Regret not getting the Nav?
I just ordered a GPS/Palm Pilot made by Garmin that has the latest software by Palm and Garmin. It has a color screen, voice directions a voice recorder, software includes all areas of North America. It has a about 6 million business accross America and once you select one, the GPS will direct you there from where you're at. With the car mount, I paid about $550 for it. It's the iQue 3600, check it out at the Garmin website.

Seen it. Awesome Palm. But, I have a IIIx and a nav system in my G35, so if I had $500 to blow, it would probably be on a Valentine1 (or computer parts).

Re: Regret not getting the Nav?
Dude. if your rich enough to buy a G35 Coupe than you gotta be rich enough to add the NAVI option. he he. Its main features are its navigation, not miniscule things such as MPG etc..
