Regret not getting the Nav?
Regret not getting the Nav?
I think this may have been covered, but I'm wondering how many of you that didn't get the Nav regret it? I don't think that its really worth the extra 2k for it and am concerned that its just going to become a novelty after a little bit. I mostly just drive around town so I don't see it being a big advantage. I've heard it does other stuff. What else does it do/tell you besides how to get to where you are going?
Thanks,
John

i dont regret it. I saved $2K You can build your own computer and install it in the car for under 1500.....anyway.....i dont regret not getting the bose either, the regular system sounds great, the only thing that i regret is not getting a sunroof.....but im going to some after-market place to get it looked at.

1. It has a quick stop feature that'll tell you where the nearest gas station, atm, restaurant are.
2. The city map has little icons that might come in handy, like "P" for public parking when you're driving around a big city.
3. It tells you your average mpg.
4. It tells you how far you are from your next scheduled maintenance and will inform you once you've hit that mileage.
5. If it senses something's strange is going on with the car, it'll let you know and suggest that you get it checked out. For example, when I went to dyno my car, it didn't like the fact that my back wheels traveled so much when my front wheels didn't, so it suggested that something was wrong and that I go get it checked out. My VDC indicator and SLIP light stayed on until I started to drive off.

I regret not having it for the 'cool' factor.
My wallet doesn't regret the $3400 CAD that it would've cost.

It's hard convincing people to buy something they've never seen in action. I know I didn't want it at first either. But I can say that I can't imagine buying another without it after having it now.
I live in the SF Bay Area. My buddy and I are going to be driving down to LA this weekend. Neither of us are from there. Out of three possible cars we could take, guess which one we're taking and why.

I agree with Dubiux. If you ever had a GPS system in your car (a real one, not the palms/ppc ones or even the garmin portables), you can never go back not having one.
If you never had one before, well your not going to miss anything, cause you would have no clue what it is like to have one.
Put it this way, remember back in the days we use to memorize everyones phone numbers? But now we have cell phones or pda's we tend to get lazy and really rely on these devices to store these numbers so we don't have to remember them anymore. Well same thing goes for the GPS.

Re: Regret not getting the Nav?
I'm glad I have it, used it a lot of time and it actually teaches me new roads that are easier, detour is no problem..also if you ran out of gas it automatically route to the nearest gas station..
Re: Regret not getting the Nav?
I didn't get it - and I don't regret it a bit.
I'm a guy - I don't even ASK for directions, why would I want to spend 2 grand for a computer to tell me?
Besides, MapQuest is FREE!! ;-)

Re: Regret not getting the Nav?
I don't like the luxury of the navigation. Even thought they are great and amazing, I like to feel the car out and paying attention to the next corner, rather than the Navigation yelling at me saying "slow down, you're beating the poo out of you car.. IM SCARED TOO FAST!" keke-_- The car is sportier without the Navigation.
