And yes even from a decently small impact like that when i took everything off in the trunk (carpets, etc) there were some stress cracks on the floor.

Hey Visual 7,
Thanks for the pics. Your car looks similar in damage to mine. ALthough my rear was pushed back more to the point where the trunk is squashed more. I am giong to probably take the damaged parts off this weekend, but I have to sort out if I am going to own this car from my mother in law first before i start to look at doing major work on this.

Battery is dead, so just might get a new one to start.
Oil is probably real old, so maybe that's next after the battery.

Hey Soul Glo,
How much did it cost to fix your G?

Gary

Thanks Gary,
when you say glass back, i think that is ok. Looks intact to me. Yeah i think there is frame damage if the trunk is now half the size hahahaha. I have a possible few connections for body men, i think this is going to be more headache than its worth. Your scaring me on the expensive comment. If i can get this back on the road and fixed for under 2k, then im golden. I have a feeling its going to be more than that.

Just an update. I got the car last night into my driveway. What a ufcking pain in the arse. I got CAA to boost it at my cousin in law's house (which was 25km away, maybe about 16 miles ). When the CAA guy left I took it to the nearest gas station to pump the tires because after 3 years of no care, they were completely flat.

After i filled up my tires and was about to take it home, it died on me again. Its a manually so at first I thought I was not giving it enough gas when i was easing up on the clutch out of first. So i called CAA again, waited at the gas station for him to come and he boosted the car again. This time I was revving the hell out of it, and again once i was about to leave the gas station it died again.

Luckily the CAA guy was still there. He said it probably the alternator b/c i told him i was revving it and it still just died on me while moving out of the gas station. The first CAA guy did a charge test and said the battery was completely dead. So maybe if i get a new battery that will fix this car dying issue.

So back to the last CAA guy that said its the alternator. I asked him to tow it, and he said it would cost me $100 because CAA won't tow it under my membership if the car has no insurance and the plates are expired. Ufcking guy, anyway after 3 hours or trying to get it out of my cuz's place and the stupid gas station, i was like whatever just get it to my house.

Its hear now. I am going to try to remove some of the damaged parts and will post more pics after I do this. Again I am a shade tree mechanic, so I am not even sure how to remove a trunk , bumper, and taillights on a G35 let alone a smashed g35.

I loooked up the service manual so I am pretty sure i can find the part in there on removing a bumper, trunk etc and go from there.

That is all for now. One thing though when i started the car after the CAA boosted it, dang man its got a powerful engine sound! man sounds good.

I have a IS250 2008 and they have no power. So to hear this thing gave me a boner! First car I could potentially own that has anything over 210 Horses

I have been reading ad nauseum all the posts in here about reliability just to make sure i know what I am getting into.

Damnstraight001 11-23-2012 02:04 PM

oh yeah and reading the reliability posts i see what people are saying about the windows.

I rolled up the window and it keeps moving down, and I am like, what's wrong with this window hahaha

Also, i hope the car's reason for just dying is due to the battery and not some other posts I have seen on this site. Like the post about car dying and almost crashing. And something about the cam sensors need replacing . . . .

Anyone know a good body shop guy in West Toronto (mississauga)?
Also anyone know a good Nissan/Infinity shop in the same area? Would rather not go to the expensive dealership for repairs for things other than the body.

Damnstraight001 11-23-2012 02:30 PM

Thanks for the info Soul Glo,
I assume it was covered under insurance. Mine wont be and I aint prepared to spend 7k-10k on this car. In the end it isnt my car, so unless I transfer ownership to my name the car wont look any better than this.

Damnstraight001 11-23-2012 02:31 PM

and if you click on my pics you will see the car. But why do my pic links look broken? How come the pics dont appear in my message reply?

Damn, that car got hit right above the crash bar which made the trunk half the size smaller lol, mine took most of the hit in the crash bar and skid into the bumper and trunk. To get this back to its shape will take some time cause in your case everything has to be pulled back and the tailight seats have to be re-formed so they fit again. In my opinion it will be 3k to repair easily. If you find used taillights, and a rear bumper for $130 on craigslist + repaint costs (unless you find one with same color you are golden)

If you lived near me i would be more than happy to help you out on taking it apart, but trunk, rear bumper, taillights (your tails should just pull out haha) they are very easily to take out just take everything out of the trunk, on the left and right side in the corners you will see 2 bolts those will let the bumper go off, trunk comes off t the hinge's easily. Good luck on this man.

Also was this bought from insurance?

Hey Visual,
Man you ride looks sweet again. Thanks for the help, I assume illinois is not a 5 minutes drive to toronto hahaha. And thanks for the tips, I will look for the 2 bolts to remove the bumper.

I am going to be craiglisting those parts. If the taillights and bumper can be had for 120$ that would be a dreamy.

Also not sure what you mean if this was bought from insurance? It was my brother in law's car bought for him by his mother. So i have no idea on the history . . .

You can run the vin and get the report, you can pay on Carfax or get one for free through ebay, PM me if you want to know how.

Also ive seen rear bumpers go for $120-160 here i sold my extra one for $160 it was silver tho. Tailights no i havent found them anywere this cheap.

Here is a diagram, look at the red circled parts and the 2 bolts have to be taken out from the inside of the trunk on each corner and the one closest to the wheel with a screw driver from the outside very easy.

Attachment 265053

The screw closest to the wheel seems like its already out because the end of the bumper is popped out
Attachment 265054
Take the carpets off on the side of the trunk you should be able to spot the screws easily, also literally take everything out of the trunk
