What do you think? Is this 2003 G35 fixable???
Hi Guys,
First time reader and poster to this site. My mother in law bought this 2003 g35 coupe for her son (my brother in law) about 4 years ago for 10k$. A construction machine crashed into the back of it when it was parked on the street. For whatever reason they never fixed it. Now its been sitting in the garage for like 3 years and my mom in law asked me if i could fix it. I might be able to just keep this car if i can fix it. But is it going to cost to much to fix than it worth. I have attached pics. I replaced my acura el (honda civic like but only sold in canada) rear bumper after it was involved in a car accident and it was a piece of cake. I am no mechanic but it was pretty easy to do. This g35 thoough loooks like it will need a new bumper, trunk, tail lights and anything else that I dont know about yet.,
What do you think guys, is it worth it to fix or should we just send it to the scrapyard? BTW, for cost savings i intend to see if i can fix it myself first. If i cant and i can find a reasonable cost to fix then i will do that.
I am thinking of bringing it to my place and then seeing if i can remove the trunk and rear bumper. Any thoughts or suggestions would be awesome!
Thanks,
Chris

Hi Temjin,
I think you may be right. I am picking it up tonight. I am going to see if i can remove the bumper and see how bad it looks underneath. I am not sure what a 'frame' looks like, but I might ask you guys again with pics tomorrow after the bumper is removed. That is if i can remove it with simple tools.
Hey Iluminati,
8k worth of damamge and not as bad as mine?? Dang, might not be worth it to fix. Yup that's what happens when something the size of a garbage truck ran into the car while parked.
Hey 06g35coupe94,
I have no clue. I assume its the stock exhaust but not sure. It 'looks' like it hasnt been damaged. Fingers crossed. .. .

what is a quarter panel, bumper reinforcement, and rear body panel?
I think the bumper reinforcement is the metal bar behind the plastic bumper. And i think the rear body panel is the plastic between the trunk and rear bumper but not sure. Any help is much appreciated!

I'm pretty sure you will have extensive frame damage back there... meaning you can't fix it yourself with shade-tree mechanic tools and experience.
You could always have at it with some ratchets and remove the rear bumper and all the broken parts and take a peek under there to see just how bad the internal damage is... that probably wouldn't take that long to do.

Thanks Partyman. I think i am going to do that tonight/tomorrow. I have a feeling its not gonna be worth it. But if i geet this car passed down to me for free, than maybe it might be. Shade-tree mechanic tools lol. Yup that's my elegant set I got at home.
the Trunk of all things opens lol. But the bottom part of the trunk is pushed up and scrunched back, looks like its more than just a bumper that needs fixing.
