The reserve held fluid and the gauge shot up randomly and thats when it went out i get and it happened luckily a mile from my house and i got it home then it did on the way to the shop and got it fixed no problems sense then runs like a charm and check the plastic part under the engine and look and see if you see any fluid down there or any spot where it looks like there has been fluid that dried up

What's leading you to this conclusion?

Have you preformed a leak down test?

Ok so today i went back to the mechanic shop and got the Head Gasket test done where its a special fluid on the radiator, its blue and if it turns yellow or some other color that means i have a head-gasket leak or problem, but the fluid did not change color, the Mechanic does not even kno what it could be but i have not done a leak down test, im gonna head to the dealer either today or tommorow and really figure out what the heck is going on

The dealership isn't a bad idea at this point since your mechanic doesn't know his job. You can save 30% by going to Nissan rather than Infiniti and in my opinion the mechanics are better trained. Have you checked your fans once your G is over heating, are they running? Once you get this issue figured out change your oil, excessive heat degrades oil.

He's already tried one independent (so called) mechanic and couldn't figure out a simple over heating issue. There are only so many reasons for our engines to overheat and they need to be eliminated one by one until you find the cause. Like I posted Nissan is 30% cheaper than Infiniti, that's where I go as a last resort....Gary

Just beware of the Nissan dealer where you have to convince them that the G35 drivetrain is the same as 350Z. I had to explain that to my local Nissan service dept. recently then I decided to leave.

in my case of the blown headgasket, what options do i have here? what can i do and how much will it cost me? never had this type of issue before, even NISSAN couldnt figure it out, they did EVERY test possible and now are leaning towards a headgasket... any one in the southeast michigan area that can do some work for a good price? how hard is it to do yourself? thanks guys, would really apprecaite the input on getting this G back to life...

So, the 'special fluid' test came back negative for head-gasket leak and you are still thinking it's a failed head gasket?

Have you had the leak down test performed?

I would suggest you get to an Inifiniti dealer and quit messing around with mechanics who don't really understand the car. As far as replacing the head gaskets go, unless you are a professional mechanic with the correct tools and experience, I wouldn't suggest tearing into the engine to replace the head gaskets.

For what it's worth....I basically had the same issue you described in your first post and I discovered my cooling system just had air in it. I burped it 5 times.....got nearly an additional gallon of coolant into the system. Afterwards, my temp needle stays where it should and the heater is working properly.

They performed every test they could, even a infinti tech came to look at since the dealerships are across the street from each other and said it was a headgasket leak...
