The spoiler was damaged recently on my 2003 G35. I need to pull it off to replace it but am having some difficulty. To remove it, isn't it just the 3 small bolts and what appears to be a white clip?

 

Look on the inside of the trunk lid for the bolts one the side and there will be another bolt in the middle holding the spoiler. You could have two bolts on each side or just one on each side. After all the bolts have been removed you may need to heat up (with heat gun or hair dryer) the sides around the spoiler to heat up the glue holding it to the trunk lid. Don't heat it up too much so you don't damage the paint on your trunk lid.

 

Thanks - I did see the 3 bolts and what appears to be a white plastic clip, about an inch in diameter. is there a special trick or technique to heating the glue? Doesnt seem like a hairdryer aimed at the edge would get anything hot enough to make a difference. I was thinking of a heat gun from the underside of the trunk, but again don't know if the glue is sporadic or applied around the edge so I'd have an idea of where exactly to heat it up...

Anybody actually do this who could comment?

 

I've removed mine a couple of times, don't know if they changed it in 05 but mine didn't have that white clip. Did you try removing those three bolts yet. If you removed them, then you should be able to tell if there is anything else holding the spoiler down. When I removed mine the glue was pretty much done, so I didn't have to heat anything up, it just came right off. Oh, and I'd leave the middle bolt for last, if you remove the bolt on one side and the middle bolt then the spoiler could slide down while you remove the last bolt, if the glue is not really holding it down anymore.

 

Might need a heat gun instead of a hair dryer. But IDK ive never taken one off.

 

Im curious about this, for my 2006 coupe, i think i want to just take my spoiler off... it'll leave obvious glue marks and bolt holes though im guess.. How much would a regular non CF trunk hatch cost

 

There is quite a bit of double sided tape too. Look up a picture of one that has been removed.

I've heard of people also using fishing line. Run it in between the spoiler & trunk like floss.
