2005 coupe questions...

ok, i got a call today from an infiniti dealer in sfl, and the guy told me 2 things that got me thinking, and i wasn't sure as to how true they were:

1) that all 6mt coupes come w/ a clear bra from factory (ok well i know this is bs for shure but w/e just clarifying myself)

2)that infiniti produces only 120,000 6mt coupes WORLDWIDE

im sure he is just bs'ing me to get me to buy it from him.

I know that the 6MT #s are limited but I doubt there is a set # of 120,000. Who knows that # may be right. It just means that the 6MT will be hard to get. Which is good for us 6speeders value down the road.

120,000 world wide is a HUGE number. The first year Honda built the S2000 they made 5,000. As for the clear bra thing, my 2004 doesnt have it for whatever thats worth. My guess would be Infiniti doesnt install any clear bras. Its prolly a dealer installed option. Not factory standard equipment.

1.) bra isn't standard, peeps usually pay around $595 for it.
2.) not sure on the numbers for 6MT's, but I know they're in high demand, and hard to get...Riverside Infiniti sold through the 7 they received on Sat. Afternoon by Mon. morning.

total g35 coupe sales for
2003: 28,965
2004: 28,377

somehow i doubt the 120,000 6mts...that doesn't include those sold in japan under the nissan name, those don't seem to show up on that report.

The number is 22500 units. In the United States. What I do Know is Japan is big trouble with sheet iron right now. My sales guy told me He could sell 500 of them right now if he had them. All G35c 6mt are sold all the way to august this year. Its funny that a state as big as Utah will only get 12 6speeds for the year. Clear Bra Tell this guy he is up in the night late.

Remember sales guys MAY NOT TELL THE TRUTH!!!!! IM being nice

I find your figures hard to believe. I doubt there is a dealer in the country that could sell 500 of them "right now" if he had them. One of the general managers of Grubbs recently made a post on Fresh Alloy entitled "I'm Up To My Eyeballs In Coupes!". Here is what his post said -

"When I arrived at work this moring there were 4 transports full of new 2005 coupes being unloaded. As of this minute we have 131 coupes on the ground and more on the way. THE MORE WE SELL- THE MORE WE GET. We have automatics and 6mt. We have loaded ones and we have a few stripped ones. If you want a deal on a new coupe, and you can live with one we have or one we have coming, YOU CAN GET A DEAL!"

Sounds like Grubbs has plenty of coupes - including 6MT's - and is trying to move them out the door before more arrive. I think if they had 500 they would not know how to get rid of them all - and they are the biggest Infiniti dealership in the country.

When you say - "All G35c 6mt are sold all the way to august this year." are you talking about in the state of Utah or what? Anyone in Utah could pick up the phone and order a 6MT from Grubbs tomorrow, as could the dealership there, so I am confused what you mean.

I find that hard to believe since the cl has been around since the mid-late 90's...ie, 2.2cl, 3.0cl, 3.2cl.

Even if you mean the 3.2cl, they were made for 4 years, they had to sell more than 40,000

Grubbs does have alot of coupes on the lot, I was up there on Sunday. If you want a really good selection of 6MT's you should look at Sewell Infiniti on N. Lemmon Ave in Dallas. They have 91 coupes on the lot and over 20 6MT's!! That's way more that Grubbs.

I don't see that many Acura CL's on the road. Maybe they're so boring and nondescript that I never notice them!

Clear bra standard? LMAO
I wish!

yep - as a reference

a couple years ago when Ford Taurus matched Honda Accord in sales one years they each sold about 240,000 units. Ford managed this by selling huge numbers to fleets (rental companies, and corporate fleets)

They were way ahead of any other car/model

The g35c I would suspect numbers no greater than 50k in a year
