Re: G35 Prototype Front License Plate Holder

"I was planning to buy a bolt that screws into the tow hook. Drill a hole into the top of the bolt and mount a frame to the license plate holder. Also, use a nut to adjust the clearance from the bumper to the plate. Easy as that.. "

I did this. The hard part is the metric bolt. Nobody wants to sell one at a reasonable price. I ended up buying a 7 inch long 5/8" bolt from Lowes. I cut off the threaded portion and cut a new metric thread with a die. The die cost about $12 but I collect tools. I had to turn down the end of the bolt so the die would work. I have a metal working lathe. I then tapped the head of the bolt 1/4-20 and made a small metal clip to hold the Infinit license plate holder against the bumper.

Re: G35 Prototype Front License Plate Holder

Could we just buy another tow hook from Infiniti and modify it?

Will we EVER see a picture of the thing? Even just a preliminary pic would be something.

I think the price is reasonable. Especially if you compare it to a "no front plate" ticket or having to put up with drilling holes in your bumper cover.

Yeah, that's what I thought too...sorta expensive for what it actually is......I wait till I get a ticket before I buy or make one. Unless of course Yuichi wants to the members of G35Driver.com a 25% discount??? Hint*hint*hint!!!

Re: G35 Prototype Front License Plate Holder

has anybody used this product yet? how sturdy is it? I mean, from the pictures, it might break if you take it onto the freeway...

Re: G35 Prototype Front License Plate Holder

I installed one 3 weeks ago and it has been holding up well.
Received it 3 days after ordering...thanks! The instructions were good...however I had a hard time getting to one of the allen head screws once the plate is mounted...but all in all its a great looking solution for us folks living in states that require a front plate.
Recommended.

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound like I am doubting your working! don't sound so angry please =P

I just wanted some input/reviews by people who have it. probably because the holder does seem a little pricey for what it does...

any more comments, guys? from the pics it seems it sticks out a little, is it noticable from most angles?

Re: G35 Prototype Front License Plate Holder

i got it from yuichi almost three months ago and it works like a dream.. never a problem with it on the highway at any speeds.. the holder is definitely convenient if you live in a place where police look for if you have a front license holder.. whatever pictures you find on strictlyz are exactly what they look like.. i kno a lot of ppl who've also gotten the bracket already and no complaints yet..

Re: G35 Prototype Front License Plate Holder

I have it, but have not installed it yet (to lazzy).
Material wise, seems nice and sturdy, I expected it to be a some what, light metal like that of liscence plates, but its not, the materials look like they can handle tough weather and road conditions.

Re: G35 Prototype Front License Plate Holder

Had this front license plate holder on for the past 4 months. Yes, it is a little expensive, but it is a quality product, cleverly designed for those who find it painful to drill into the G35 front bumper. The holder is holding up well, never have to make any realignment even when driving on bumpy roadways. You just have to be careful when parallel parking as it adds an inch to the front of the car.
