What Should I Expect?
What Should I Expect?
Hi I'm new to the forums, but I'm going to get straight to the point. Today a girl hit me, she turned right into me because she hadn't even bothered to look both ways. Thankfully I quickly swerved preventing even worse damage being done. Information was exchanged, the police were called, and that's all sorted. Now here is my question: When my car is repaired (her insurance will be paying for that) what should I expect? Will it come back looking just as it was, or will the right side of my car always be a little messed up? Including small gallery below.

expect a headache,
if it's done right, it will never be noticible, if you haven't contacted the insurance company, you should, and demand that OEM parts be used, your car was OEM before, accept nothing less....

Thank you for responding. I'll make sure to tell them I only want OEM parts used. In terms of a time frame, how long do you think this will take? In addition, is there a possibility of structural damage?

doesn't look like you'd have structural damage, but it's always a possibility in collision the adjuster should be able to know when inspecting the vehicle.... I'd say 2-3 weeks, minimum is what you are going to be looking at.... make sure they put you in a rental car....

I have Geico so I'll definitely be getting a rental. Unfortunately I don't think you can choose where you want your car to be repaired with Geico(?), almost positive they have their own people. Hopefully that doesn't end up biting me in the ***.
I actually have another question. After replacing the parts and everything, is it normal practice to re-paint the entire car, or just that section? It's an '03, so I'm a little worried that if they end up only re-painting that section, the colors won't match up (Also my tow hook cover is a slightly different shade than the bumper heh, so it'd be nice if they painted that for me.)

Damn, messed the car up. Although doesn't look like structural damage. If I were you I would go get a few estimates for the repair of the car with OEM parts. That way when the adjuster from the at fault drivers insurance comes to estimate costs you won't get low balled. Just because they say they will give you this much doesn't men you have to accept it.

I hit a wall last year going about 60mph and I had extensive damage to my wheel and the lower subframe and minor body damage. The repairs took less than 3 days to do. I took about 3 weeks for me to receive my check.
I'm glad there are resources like this around, because I clearly have no idea what I'm talking about haha. Anyways, I guess all I have to do now is bring it to a shop and hope I get back the G I know and love. Many thanks to everyone for answering my questions
