I have a g35 2003 coupe automatic transmission and I noticed sometimes when I'm on the tiptronic mode and I'm in second gear when I'm at a red light and the car goes to first gear just before it completely stops, I feel and hear a clack on the transmission, most of the time it doesn't clack but I hate it when it does, is it normal for it to clack or ???

if it is a clack like it is through a pillow, it's probably normal. My car makes a clack/slight lurch when in tiptronic and rolling to a stop. The car is just downshifting.

Welcome to DRIVER!

I know what you referring to, approaching a stop sign and it drops from second to first while you're still rolling. clunk It's normal but mine hasn't done it since I had my AT serviced. When was the last time you had your trans serviced? Just might be the answer to removing the clunk you dislike so much....

Never I just bought the car it has only 50 000 miles that's why I was scared to already have transmission problems, when I called Infiniti they told me they could check the transmission with their computer hardware but it would automatically cost 200$ just to plug in their computer so what you did exactly what do you mean by at serviced and trans serviced I remember I put extra oil transmission but nothing more and thanks in advanced.

You should do what's called a "drain and fill" on your transmission every 30K miles. This consists of draining the trans from the pan only and replacing it with new transmission fluid. Usually you'll get 3.5-4 quarts to come out.

Id just have them do a fluid and filter service for you. If the fluid is discolored or glittery, theyll tell you. And it probably needs it anyways!
