I'm sure they did SOMETHING but I bet it is in the ECU, exhaust, headers, and intake just like the after-market guys would do.

has anyone put out 0-60 and quartermile times for the 05? i havnt seen any, but i heard somewhere that they were about the same, and if thats true then it seems possible that they just changed the numbers advertised and all us 04's have that much hp (wishful thinking)

All you have to do is dyno an 04 against an 05 to see if there were any realy modifications. Very simple.

I am sure as an OEM, they wouldn't just raise the redline without having other mechanical changes, in order to ensure the engine still meets the reliability target.

The torque # is also changed, so most likely, there's a change (probably in the cam profile), instead of just "aesthetically" change the redline.

If the engine is still making good torque near the redline, sure the power would be increasing if you allow it to rev higher. After all, the horsepower is a function of engine speed and the torque.

I still think they most likely put the thingamajig on the whatchamacallit while fudging with the doodad.

2005 is stronger

It could be the new crome muffler bearings and the piston return springs that are making the new power. The truth is My new 2005 is much more powerful upstairs than my 2003. I can tell by the 1st to secound shift at 6800 rpms. It just spins the tires. I do feel the new power!! Wait tell it breaks in.

Its about time I got a laugh for that. Funny thing is that it might have taken this long because I could have offended a couple people, lol!

The best is just going up to these people and saying, "wow, I didn't know that those Type R's were available here, especially the ones with the big wings! Cause you know that huge wings on the rear-decklid of FWD cars REALLY help a lot, like, for giving the car horrible understeer at speed, you rocK! "

The mystery continues... If anyone in Toronto with an 05 6MT wants to go to a Dyno my friend has one. Wouldn't cost anything to do a stock to stock comparison.

Very smart!!! THe 05 G35c may have 10ft/lb less than the 04, but that torque band might be as flat as a table. I would rather have 260 ft/lb from 1k rpm to redline than 270 peaking at 4800 rpm and falling off quickly thereafter.

Like the Wings on your g35's will do anything at all like you going to fell the downforce being applied when you merge onto the highway. Just remember where you guys got ur wings from. you can all thank the gentelman over at porsche for putting them on their racecars to keep the *** planted on the race track.

Did any of you actually bother to read the link I posted on the first page? VARIABLE EXHAUST CAM TIMING. Along with it, it's likely some cam timing profile changes were made to take advantage of the variable cam timing. I'd speculate a flatter torque curve, albiet slightly less peak torque.

Not really. Porsche was not the first innovator of the modern wing.

As for downforce on the g35, our wings actually serve to give it a more streamlined coefficient of drag. Next...

The answer, which wasnt all that hard to find by the way....

2005 Infiniti G35 Coupe Adds Revised Interior and New 298-Horsepower G35 Coupe 6MT Model

" The G35 Coupe 6MT model receives an additional 18-plus horsepower and a red line increase to 7,000 rpm compared to the automatic transmission-equipped G35 coupes’ standard 280 horsepower and 6,600 rev limit, bringing its power to 298-horsepower. The extra power comes from the addition of electronic exhaust valve timing and numerous structural improvements to the engine block. Torque is rated at 270 lb-ft for the G35 Coupe and 260 lb-ft for the G35 Coupe 6MT. "

From Nissan News 1/05

There you have it.... Electronic exhaust valve timing, numerous structural improvements to the engine block, and it's without reason they also played with the fuel / spark / timing curve (ecu) to not only bump the redline up, but to also give the engine the ability to perform at those numbers efficiently.
