Nav DVD and key fobs/keys

Hey all. I am a new G owner of a 2006 6MT in blue. I pick her up this weekend, as the dealer is doing some fixing to damage on the front bumper for me.

The car does not come with the Navigation DVD. Where can I get one, without paying $$$$$ to the dealer? Would it work to find someone and copy theirs, possibly?

I am not expecting it to come with key fobs and I only have 1 key at this point. How do I know if I need to get special security keys or standard ones? Also, the key fobs on ebay are cheap. Are they the real deal or knock offs? What will it cost to get a couple new fobs and have them programmed?

Thanks.

If you're near chicago, I can help you out on getting additional keys cut and programmed. As far as the key fob's go, there is a simple procedure for programming new/used ones to the car. If you search the forums, you can find it.

If your aren't near chicago, call up your local locksmith and talk to them about programming a key. The dealers charge way too much for something so simple.

A Local Locksmith Can cut/Program this For around $50. I purchased myself a 2nd Master key 3 years ago when I purchased my '05.

This will Take care of the Keyfob needs as well. Very easy to program. I still have my programming instructions if you need them though most sellers include them with purchase.

Navigation DVD's fluctuate in price but this is a reasonable place to start

Good lookin' out Falcor! I paid $120 to have my Intelligent Keys programed. If you do not have the IK, you should be able to program it yourself. If your car turns on without putting the key in the ignition, then you do have to have it programmed AND if you have 2 fobs make sure they are programmed together otherwise only the one they programmed will work.

As far as a DVD, ask the dealer first! The car should come with the DVD. When I worked at a dealership we kept the DVD's in the office because people would steal them from the vehicles. If they absolutely will give not you one for free (they really should) you can hit up a user on here (HenryLee) I think he was selling one not too long ago.

Thanks falcor. I appreciate the offer but I am out near Seattle.

I'm still not sure if my car has the intelligent key system, which requires different fobs, I think. Any way to figure that out?

Right now, I have 1 key, and that is all.

If your key looks like this then you DO Have to have it programmed by someone.

Ok. I have a key that is symmetrical, unlike the one in the picture. Does that mean that I do not have the intelligent key system thing?

You do not have the intelligent key system. The key fob you have should be easy to program yourself.
